Today begins the public campaign as CAL is about to enter Section 6 Contract Negotiations. This Wall Street rally is just the beginning.

There are a lot of good people and new blood here at CAL and we are doing our best to change the direction and improve the lives of our pilots.

Props to CAL for moving quickly with negotiations. It's been what, 8 months of negotiations? Union and management want this inked before current contract is scheduled to expire. Great news, hopefully get that first class rest seat back, that would be nice.

Wall Street Rally Live Feed Video

In our ongoing effort to increase our communications tools, we are going to bring to you the first ever “Live Feed” event for Continental Pilots. Understand this is an extreme Beta project. The technology obviously exists for this type of event but is usually done via satellite trucks and live feed television.

What we are going to attempt is to stream this live over the Internet. It is somewhat like inventing the wheel so we anticipate that there will be some technical difficulties involved. In the range of possibilities, we can go anywhere from a rock that rolls down a hill if enough force is applied to a Goodyear Eagle racing tire. We expect somewhere in the middle. Call it a pioneer wheel if you will, because that’s what we are doing, pioneering some technology.

We have two sites set up for this feed. One is on the calalpa.org website under “Hot Buttons.” The other can be found at this link: http://www.calmeccommunications.com/

Neither of these two links or sites will be active until such time as we start the rally. The anticipated start times for video are 1100ET to 1230ET. This will be the main picket site on Wall Street. We will begin breaking down the computers and cameras following that and move over to Battery Park at approximately 1330ET. We will recommence broadcasting at approximately 1330ET and continue until the end of the rally. That is estimated to be around 1430ET. At times, there will be no broadcast on the Internet due to equipment substitutions and the like. During those times please be patient while we make the transitions.

In the event we have a complete failure of the broadcast system, we will post that fact on the website so that you will know we have had to pull down the video. If this occurs, rest assured that in the following days we will have video that was recorded available for you to see. In addition, we will have transcripts of the speeches available online shortly after the event is concluded.

Thanks. There are many issues we are working on. I'm sure management wants a quick deal, however the union wants the right and best deal, not the quickest.

What time is the news media interview? I only ask because apparently banging prostitutes is more news worthy than fair labor practices.

Elliott Spitzer to speak at 11:30et in New York.

Having some trouble watching the feed.

Either it will give me an error or I can watch 10 secs and then it freezes up. What I did see looked damn good. Nice work to the MEC, and to the folks in CALALPA in general.

I had the pleasure of taking part today... and it was fantastic!!!

CAL SPSC did a spectacular job of organizing this event! Watching 500 pilots march down the middle of the street from the NYSE to Battery Park was a sight to behold!

Well done, guys. Sorry I couldn't be there.

Special thanks goes out to the pilots of Expressjet, United, American, Delta, Alaska, and Airtran who came out to walk with us today, we owe you one. Sincerest apologies if I overlooked a company that I didn't mention.

Glad to hear that some guys from the Tran were there to show some support!

I was proud to have attended. It was a fantastic event with great turnout. Give 'em hell, guys... You looked great!
