Thats frickin terrible! ALL of you guys need to bail. I hope all the furlough-ees along with my Focus Air brotheren get picked up in SHORT ORDER.

All the 100's are now parked.. Some of the loadmasters were let go also... This place is going down the tubes quick..

Kalitta needs people. Send your resumes to people you know their and have them forward them to the correct people.

My buddy said it was only FE's that got furloughed because they parked the 3 100's. No FO's yet.

So has the company said anying official yet about the 100's going away? I am on Military leave and havent heard anything. I am however first to go if they can furlough a guy while he's on mil leave.. Is that even legal? anybody got an answer to that one..

IE, can they furlough you if you are on military leave?

The company can't fire you for taking a leave of absence to fulfill military service. However, if your job doesn't exist when you return due to other reasons, it's legal. How long have you been separated from your civillian employment? USERRA makes a differentiation between less than or more than 90 days.

Less than 90 days leave (20 CFR 1002.197):

A person whose military service lasted 1 to 90 days must be promptly reemployed in the following order of priority:
  1. In the job the person would have held had the person remained continuously employed so long as the person is qualified for the job, or can become qualified after reasonable efforts by the employer to qualify the person; or,
  2. If the employee cannot become qualified for the position in (1), in the employee's pre-service position so long as the person is qualified for the job or could become qualified after reasonable efforts by the employer; or
  3. If the employee cannot become qualified for the position in either (1) or (2), in any other position, which is the nearest approximation of (1) for which the person is qualified, with full seniority.

or more than 90 days (20 CFR 1002.196):

A person whose military service lasted 91 days or more, must be promptly reemployed in the following order of priority:
  1. In the job the person would have held had the person remained continuously employed, or a position of equivalent seniority, status, and pay so long as the person is qualified for the job, or can become qualified after reasonable efforts by the employer to qualify the person; or,

Same thing, really. If your position is just gone...if everybody gets layed off and there aren't comparable positions available, then you may have a problem. If the positions do exist or something comparable for which you can reasonably be trained, you may have options. In any event, when you return if you're not satisfied with Evergreen's response, you can file a claim with the DoJ.

An employer is not responsible, or is excused from, the USERRA requirement to reemploy if the circumstances of the job have changed, including wide furloughs as a reduction in the workforce. The company must prove this to be the case, however, and you can still pursue the matter through the USERRA or VETS (or both).

http://www.dol.gov/elaws/vets/userra/empent_c10.asp

When an employer keeps doing the same thing to you, it becomes a known quantity. It's not a surprise. Evergreen has been doing the same thing for years.

Staying there with that in mind is an invitation to experience the same things over and over. Other operators are hiring, and will welcome your services.

Thanks, I am one of the January forced vacationers... I was lucky to have had 2 months of mil leave set up prior but was curious if I can actually be put on furlough status while on Mil leave.

Thanks for the references, Big help! I appreciate it greatly.

Someone on the Evergreen forum put it best:[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica] “Everybody’s worked for Evergreen”…….. “Once”!

I know I will always look back on my time at Evergreen and smile. I had a great time flying around the world and couldn't have asked for a better group of guys to do it with. I wish those still there the best of luck and hope they get everything they are due and more, they deserve every penny of it.

Not true. I know one of the FO's that got axed.

I dont think any FO's got hit in the latest round. THe first round in Jan they did. I had a friend of mine that resigned the other day and it sounds like they were tryin hard to get him to stay. Training on the 400 LCF is gearing up and with guys leaving we'll be short
Those that may consider coming here beware.there was a class scheduled in Nov and 2 days prior it was cancelled. Leaving those who had resigned elsewhere screwed...I have gotten some good experience and had loads of fun flyin around the world, but when there is a mil drawdown I think EZ will be screwed. Every FO in the company that I have talked to seems to have a moving on plan in the works. It will be real interesting to see if the company tries to present another give back proposal at contract negotiations again with the numbers leaving.

Any of you Zoners know an FO by the name of R.Sattro? If he's still there, ask him to give the freightdog a call, thanx in advance.

Now there is talk of a new F/O class in March. So it goes here.We lost 16 F/O last month all to better airlines. You would have to be out of your mind to come here.

There will probably be more over the next month or so too. I don't think that the latest news of supplying crews to Jade Air Cargo will stem the tide either. Can you say "Junior Assigned"?? :(

Lets see now a March class of 12 at a cost of about 46 K a piece to train....furlough them in June...recall them in July, only about 3 return. Thats 552,000 in training $ for the class and after the usual cycle by Aug those 3 cost 184,000 a piece to train(for SIC Ratings) so they will be all ready for the Christmas furlough and by the Feb recall the remaining 3 will be gone.

Pure Genius

Unfortunately that genius, dell, is still happy to show his people that he doesnt care about losing a dollar to save a couple of pennies as long as his people are "kept in check".

there should be a commercial titled, "Dell, man of genius"!

We salute you, Mr. wrap yourself in the american flag while the AMC's top brass is watching while being the airline world's version of a slumlord, complete with your own crackhoar somewhere buried in your mansion!

We salute you, you piece of ********************!

Just in...good news at Evergreen.....just got a contract to crew 747-400's for JADE air cargo. Sounds like finally some good growth. THe first guys need to bid oit for March. Now to find pilots may be a bit harder.

So how many 400's does Jade want evergreen to crew? where would they be based? what color coolaid should I get at Schnucks? And when do I need to come off Military leave to get into a 400 class?

What the hell is this about!! We are now going to crew other airlines jets? This place never lets me down when it comes to crazy stuff... Now lets hire to replace everyone who just left...and we just put one of the -100's that was just parked back on the line..
We have no crews....Someone shoot me..PLEASE

7 Capt's and 7 FO's in a March class. Jade is currently operating 2 new 747's with orders to 8. The base is out of JFK and the crews will consist of 1 JADE Capt, 1 EZ Capt and 1 EZ FO. The biggest problem I see with it is how pissed off will the EZ Capt be when he finds out how much that new JADE Capt is getting paid!

Actually it sounds more like 6 planes going up to 8. Most are already crewed. Tells you something about the industry wages in the US...most industries outsource overseas...but with the crap pilot wages in the US other countries are now outsourcing for that cheap US pilot labor.

I am glad to see that there is something positive over at the zone and people might have a chance to get recalled. Allthough, I am not sure that all that have been furloughed want to come back.
