Waiting on class date and wondering if anyone can shed some light on training. Number of pilots per class, duration of ground and sim or whatever other info you care to share. Thx.

I'm waiting on a class too. When did you interview?

To answer your questions, I don't know anything. I've heard that all indoc is done in PHX, but don't have any solid source for that.

Our class (Dec 10) did two weeks of indoc in PHX together. Then we split into 3 groups for systems and sim. One group of 3 had a couple of days off (Christmas), one group had 2 weeks off, and the third group had a month off. Systems was in CLT. It was computer based training in the AM with the procedures trainers in the PM. Sim followed, also in CLT, except for one group that went to MCO to JetBlue's sims (what a nice facility!!!!!). OE is scheduled for sometime in Feb for most of us.

For me, it will be just over 2 months start to finish (Dec 10-Feb 22). For the last group, a little longer (a little over 3 months).

Bad Andy,

Has USAPA been by to promise you guys the moon yet? I'm sure they'll figure out a way to slot new hires just above the most senior AWA pilot and once they sign the new SWA$++ contract that should give you guys a pretty nice quality of life...lol.....

just playing around no harm intended.

Actually, they told us that all the westies are going to be forced to resign and be rehired at the bottom of the list. And, all of us newbies are going to get all the west guys' longevity. That will solve all the problems. And, we're shooting for Cathay "A-Scale" wages, not just SWA... :D

Before anyone rolls in on me, I'm just kidding. I'm at the bottom of the list either way... However, to avoid pissing anyone off, I think I'll just vote for Teamsters (the write-in candidate)...

(Now, how long until this becomes an east-vs-west or why not to work here thread?)

touche!

that was funny.

without degenerating into an Alpa vs USAPA thread i will say one thing. now that you are on property it would be beneficial to take ownership of your career. If you write in Teamsters and Alpa loses by a vote (possible) and you end up as a 10 year LOA 93 FO with a bankrupt in-house union mired in legal battles remember this thread....By thier own admission USAPA stated that getting a new contract will be a LONG process as they would be starting from scratch with an extremely fractured group.

An independent union will represent your interests better.

ALPA is the reason you are where you now.

Evidently.....not long enough.

Welcome aboard and good luck!

Actually my Teamsters comment was tongue-in-cheek. As for taking control of my career, I wish I could. According to the ALPA ACPC, I do not get to vote. ALPA is saying that anyone not on the list on Oct 31, 2007 (original filing date) does not get to vote (all new-hires and furlougees since then)... So, while USAPA fights for my right to vote and ALPA fights to block it, I'm just sitting back and waiting for an answer. However, the NMB filing seems to indicate the lists are finalized yesterday (14 days after the single-carrier status ruling on 01/23), so I don't know how ALPA will get around that decision...

Green,

I think you forgot to mention that you were kidding, too.

I mean, you must be, right?
