Subject: Congrats

From the generation that introduced B scales and enjoyed promotion and career movement due to the age 60 rule, now you AXXholes have given us age 65. I hope you have to medically retire before 61. From me too you a heart felt:

FXXK YOU

-----------------------------------------------
Dear Chris,

Your message to APAAD was a publicly vulgar one and not helpful in furthering anyone's enlightenment re the age change issue. APAAD has been working this issue for over a decade, just as ALL airline pilots worked the issue from 1959 to 1980. With the abrogation of pensions, in particular, 60 is an artificially low age to retire. Too, it is based on age rather that health or competency. The list of supporters for change is long, including: APAAD, AARP, EEOC,FAA,SPC, PPF, numerous independent pilot unions, the vast majority of the world... and even ALPA.

It was long due for change and it will, ultimately, give you and others an extra five years of earning power.

I would ask that you refrain from your unprofessional behavior. If you persist, I would be happy to forward your e mails to your Chief Pilot. Perhaps he can assist you in learning the meaning of the word "professional".

Paul XXXXXX, Chairman
APAAD

Just a bunch of baby-boomers "getting theirs" at the expense of everyone and everything else.

It really raises my blood pressure to hear a baby-boomer describe anyone from any other generation as being part of the "me generation" I am sure history will view the baby-boomers as the ultimate "me generation"

Speaking of which, the baby boomers (as reported in the paper today) who just became eligible for Social Security are taking the "early money" option, costing them a fortune over the long run, but providing them with instant gratification.

The "greatest generation" turned into the "all about me, give me some, ok give me more" generation.

paul xxx is a loser. i sure hope chris xxx doesn't worry about paul xxx meaningless comment. undaunted is also a loser for posting this crap.

where does paul xxx loser commute from/to? he better drive to work because he will never get my jumpseat. i don't care if he does call my chief pilot or not.

Paul Emens? willing to hang another pilot for being unproffessional to APAAD? How low can a pilot get. I can understand maybe involving proffessional standards somehow but that is actually ridiculous. How about you cantact my chief pilot too a**hole. APAAD sucks and so do you. We dont need you snitch types in this industry. I too hope you medical out loser.

At least nothing was said about old man river, old wrinkley balls, or hip breakages. That's it, I'm telling! So when is this "Cocoon III" adventure in SAT?

And remember to have all of the co-pilots where this "little paul emens" works to put him on their no-fly list

You know, I'm against the whole age 65 thing, but here's an observation:

Quit acting like a bunch of pussies.

We lost. The competition was better organized, motivated and worked much harder than people who felt sending a "____ you" letter to a fellow pilot was an appropriate or meaningfull thing to do.

This is a good post and one of the most productive seen on FI.

Clearly, LJDRVR is a professional in this business. And he probably even likes flying, likes aviation and his work too. It shows!

Dude, you used productive and Flight Info in the same sentence!:D

Just an observation.

A lot of folks have invested themselves with a viewpoint of:

"Greedy damn babyboomers! It's all about them!"

Yet our outrage over this new law stems from its negative effect on our own careers.

Age sixty will cost me well over six figures, but why go around writing FU letters to people I don't know?

BTW, Did you actually write that letter?

That's the point you're missing in this thread, LJDRVR. If you knew Paul Emens (in other words, if you worked at Southwest Airlines) you'd understand that he deserves a bunch of F-You letters.

It's just an example of how small, petty, egotistical, and self centered the man is that he can't absorb any of the backlash his greed has generated. So he latches onto the fact that the FO who wrote the letter used the F-word in it and threatens him with his cheif pilot (also a baby-boomer).

Ya know UndauntedFlyer, one would think a proper definition of "professionalism" would include having enough grace and humility to accept your victory without CONSTANTLY bringing it up to those who opposed you.

Once again, a DPE acting this way is disappointing, at very best.

My guess is, Undaunted Flyer's wife probably ran off with a less selfish, less self-absorbed, more considerate and better endowed Gen X-er.

Now he's sticking it to the entire generation, and bragging about it.

I think you are the last person on this board to claim some kind of moral high ground on professionalism. You know how most folks on this board feel about the age 65 law change yet you come back time and time again to run their noses in it. Look, this was a life altering event on the negative side for the majority of pilots and many are upset about it. Things were beginning to settle down until you came back around to post the celebratory party details. Is that professional? I did not think so. Now go have your Mia Tia and ponder the "gayness" of your drinks.

If he turns anyone in to their CP, then he deserves a lot worse than an "FU letter."

Late to the party...

radar, please don't lump the baby boomers in with the Greatest Generation. Two very different animals (Greatest Generation raised the baby boomers) and the Greatest Generation does deserve the respect that they have earned.

I had to retract what I originally wrote....I was afraid the grandpas would come after me since they like to run to their chief pilots like a bunch of babies.

Here's a thought to ponder....which is worse, the rat that runs to the chiefs or the chiefs that are more than happy to dish out the punishment? I know one thing, Southwest Luvs their rats.

Hey UF, are you back at UAL swinging gear on A320 flying 95 hours a month?

That's a great question. UF was all about how much he "loved the job". It wasn't about money - remember??

UAL is hiring. Suck up your colossal ego and go grab a right seat UF. The flying public needs you to protect them from the inexperienced 12-15 year captains at UAL.

Here's another way to look at this. Had I got an e-mail like the one that started this thread...I would look for the individual, and politely ask him if this is going to continue to be a problem. If he answers in the affirmative, then I would let him make the choice as to weather I should take this to Professional Standards or to the Chief Pilot. The choice would be his and his alone.

I have only intiated contact with Professional Standards twice in my career. I don't believe in blind-siding someone, so in both cases, the individual knew the phone call was coming because I let him know what I was going to do.

To send an e-mail like that indicates that "Chris" is a person that really needs help. Hopefully someone will help him realize that.

I would take the wrench.

No you wouldn't...because even with the wrench, there would be consequences...

I don't think the consequences would be as severe as you think. The CP would say "Knock it off. Thank you." This is a moot point anyhow as you are certainly not the huge tool this APAAD guy is so nobody would be writing a letter like this to you.
