Who will survive? Republic Airways

Aaaaand who do you work for again?

I don't see why RAH is in so much better shape than the other regional carriers. The E170 is a gas guzzler. Unless I've been grossly misinformed, the Jungle Bus burns more gas than the CRJs with equivalent seating capacity, and still burns more dead dinosaurs per passenger mile than a guppy or 'bus. Engines mounted on wings do not a mainline airliner make. It's an interesting article, just don't take the positive stuff written about your airline as gospel truth or you'll draw accusations of SKW-style Kool-Aid consumption.

Turboprops are taking it back! GLA is going to run the whole show! Pass the Sharkleberry Fin!
The 170 is a gas guzzler???...........MMMMMMMMMM,
sure compared to a 1900, Saab or Dash. Compared to the 737 or the Bus, no way in hell. Sure if you fly the 170 around at .82 all day long, she'll eat up gas. However if you know how to cut the corners and fly it the way it should be flown then you will see some pretty good fuel savings. Seeing as how you have never flown a 170/175 I will bet that you have been grossly misinformed.

170 does not burn more fuel than the crj700. that has been beaten to death.

1. Everyone hates riding on a regional jet but being we have the E170/175s, passengers would rather ride on us then yall with the crj700/900s sooooooo sucks to be you.

Call it a regional jet all u want. I dont care but the fact is, its a superior airplane to the canadian pos and passengers would rather fly on them.

being its flightinfo, my regional is better than yours! If you aint working here, too bad so sad.

BTW, I could care less what Boyd says

Grow up kid and get a ilfe.

170/170

5000 lbs first hour
4000 lbs each additional hour

.82 to .78 big diff in burn. .78 to .74 also big diff but not as much as .82 to .78. On 90% of our flying (US Air system) the diff in time from .78 to .74 is maybe 3 to 5 minutes per leg. May as well do .74 on routes less than 500 nm. No diff in time but noteable diff in fuel, say 300 to 400 lbs.

He can say whatever he wants. As long as you are filling pilot seats with awe-struck low time pilots who are willing to work for your current wages, there is no pressing need to change anything.

the 170 should be flown by the majors. And you should hope it does as well. The bigger RJ's are just a crazier version of the b-scale-

We all want to fly bigger better planes-and you're all certainly capable- i just don't think it's a good idea to divide up your career and build your first experience in them at 1/3-1/2 wages

the thread is right though- the 50's are done- and that's a good thing

I understand every dollar makes a difference. Why is 100/barrel the 'breaking point'? Shouldn't have $80 (or lower) been the breaking point?

Considering oil cost $16.00 per barrel only 15 years ago it means in fact that $100.00 oil, or anything near it, is the breaking point.
