Wayne county is currently in the process of planning expanding the Bravo concourse at DTW by 22 gates.

How? You'd have to get rid of the entire 4R deice pad.

It would be moved to where the existing smith terminal is. Apparently the county wants to go forward with the aerotropolis plans. Massive foreign investments are waiting to get a piece of the pie.

I thought the plan was to finish the current construction on the new terminal, and then to tear down the Smith terminal and extend the new terminal to where the Smith terminal now stands?

No, the barry terminal will be knocked down and the terminal will expand in that direction.

There were 2 Midwest 717s over at the Mx hangar yesterday. That might be good for a rumor or two.

I heard a good rumor. Boeing offered NWA a fleet of 717s that they(Boeing) are getting on a trade. Rumor is that they are Airtrans. Combine 87 Airtran 717s with MidEx 25 717s and there you have NWAs DC9 replacement aircraft...

Interesting rumor. What's the "trade," though? The 717s for a bunch of new 737s?

I heard this also...but it's too good to be true.

The too good to be true prediction: NWA buys outstanding shares TPG has in Midwest early next year. NWA will keep the MKE hub, sell their -80's and park our -30's, and use the 717 as the -30 replacement, plus possible additional 717's from Boeing.

That will leave excess personnel at Midwest for remaining acft, but just heard that they might be furloughing some newly hired F/O's there. We are still short at NWA despite hiring and could easily absorb the Midwest pilots, especially since they have a training program (and manuals) for the DC9 that is almost cloned from NWA's.

As to integration, guessing something similar to the Midway deal from the 90's that fell through - ratio in Captains based on DOH, and staple the F/O's, and probably fence MKE.

Rumor has it that NWA has already assigned personnel to work on integrating the training and that NWA ALPA has been having closed door discussions with Midwest ALPA on integration.
