If I upgrade? I can already hold MD88 Captain easily, but am waiting for a plane I actually WANT to fly. Merger? No actual fiction yet, only talk from hedge funds and some analysts. Recession? Why do you think we are adding INTL routes? And if all of that did happen, you would not be hired because hiring would hault. Why are we still scheduled to hire 600-700 next year? Sounds like growth to me, INTL growth. And, my 9 month seat hold (moving from DOM to INTL 767 has a 9 month hold) is up soon, and you know what that means?

As far as making as much as you do, my wife makes a lot more than I do (Advertising sales VP), so I think WE make more than you do. Have fun, Sarge. Don't be upset that your Fedex dreams, or Southwest dreams are grinding to a hault thanks to age 65. Your options are becoming limited as you continue to live on base for free. You may have to actually try to become a "General." (Our Country would be in sorry shape if you did......) Instead, you will always be "Sarge" to us.

Just because you guys are hiring 600 this year doesn't mean that there isn't a recession on the way. Or for that matter an international recession (other countries have recessions too don't they?). Hiring isn't an indication of how well you company is doing. You guys will hire till you furlough again.

By the way, your pay "raise" is a little less than 2%...and inflation is 3+%...doesn't that mean your taking another pay cut? I guess that's par for the course with you Delta guys. Nothing says Happy New Year like working for less money. It's the Delta way!

Don't mean to intrude on y'alls pissing match, but the headline says..."Southwest's CEO sees acquisitions on horizon in a rough airline atmosphere..."

The "horizon" in this sentence is NOT Horizon airlines. It is being used as a descripter, "on (the) horizon...in the future.....something SWA is looking at.....Something that SWA has planned.....

Not acquistions OF Horizon Airlines....Difference....Big difference...So, the title of the thread WN/FL!!! should just read, SWA - Going to buy someone....Maybe....Possibly.....If the situation is right......Nothing new.....
