I was on that "short list" for over one year. It's very hard to say what the "short list" really means. I was on that list for a long time and it took a check airman to get me off that list and in the interview room.

Good luck.

I waited around 2 years to get the call. It seems the Air Inc. job fair worked for me. I've been in for a friend and there's THOUSANDS waiting in CAL's system. You can acutally see where they are in the computer system if you ask. My buddy went from 8000 something to 145. But, he hasn't been called. I have no idea how it works. Good luck.

Exactly what the Asst. C.P. told/showed me. There are like 15,000-20,000 online apps. Recomendations get you on the "short list" of 1,500-3,000. Then theres the interview list 100-200. He told me I was on that (I flew up on my dime the night before and stayed in a hotel at the airport on my dime...that impressed him).

I figure that since Apr 2007 there had to be more that 200 guys go through interviews. Of course I wasn't able to make the AirInc job fair both times it was in my town and/or I was off. That's the only thing I haven't tried. If they purged my stuff for being a dumbass over 20 years ago, at least I have only myself to blame.

Good luck y'all!

A lot of those 15,000 or whatever are unqualified/have no college etc. and will never get a call. They just put their stuff in to say that they applied to a major. I'd guess that there are probably 3-4,000 qualified applicants on file.

December makes a year for me. My sponsor goes in every 2-4 weeks and hears the same thing: "He's going to get a call any day now!!" Same thing for a solid year. Everyone I talk to says that it takes around a year to get the call. End of December makes a year for me....no call yet.

So you're saying just because I don't have a college degree I am not qualified. What is this the Delta thread?

I had a friend hired last December with only an AA and a friend hired two years ago without one day of college.

Yes. According to everything I have been told, you are not qualified without a 4 yr degree. Why? Who knows. CAL seems to be very serious about their preference for college degrees. Who knows why but noone on this board makes the rules.

Well, I'm glad this thread got going. I was certain I was the only one waiting this long. 10000 hrs, 4 types and no call? Man!

I just hope that my bout with Crani-o-rectal disorder 20 years ago didn't get me transfered to the unqualified "tool" box.

Ok you got me.

I've been trying to get a 10 year AirTran captain on for about a year and he has a college degree. His college was in another country and they don't want to honor his foreign diploma. That's how serious they can be regarding this thing.
