After a military stint of 11 years of wearing my "cover" everywhere I went, it was quite the pleasure to dump the hat and be free!!! We have enough items to put in the TSA bucket, one less thing is a plus... I couldn't imagine wearing a hat in the summers of FL-- they must get gross...

I think instead of worrying about hats, we should spend time on getting people to vote. They are the real A$$ Clowns.

Exactly. With all of the real issues we have to deal with, and people get all worked up over putting a frickin' hat on their heads for a few minutes a day. Honestly guys, is it really that damn difficult to put the hat on your head and look like a pilot for a few minutes while you walk from ops to the airplane?

agreed! Just one thing to keep in mind though, dont do the swa thing and make hats optional. It looks stupid to have half the guys wearing hats.

Actually ...it's only the kernals and the short guys who still wear the hats. That leaves the other 95% of us who don't.

And keeping the hats optional allows for the annual question at recurrent...."Are the hats coming back?"

This allows us vote in class by a show of hands....usually 24 for no hats....2 ( 1 being the dork who asked the question) being in favor of bringing the hats back

If you need to wear a hat to distinguish yourself from aircraft cleaners, you need help. You're also kidding yourself if you think your hat gives passengers a warm fuzzy about your skills. The passenger couldn't give a rats @ss what you wear, they just want the cheapest ticket. If you want an example; look at the Virgin America pilots. Totally non-traditional, but do you see passengers running from the plane?

Face it hat lovers, the only good excuse to wear your hat, is to cover your bald head.

We have a winner!!!!!!

Too many people thinking they're tool cool for school. Maybe you guys should try going to a tailor, half the guys in the terminal wear uni's that aren't even the right size. Oh and maybe you guys could try ironing your shirts once a year. Also washing your trench coat as least once a decade would look better and maybe some shoe polish. Oh wait, your guys are too busy making sure your nano screen doesn't get scratched.......MY BAD!

I've nicknamed my hat the "hub-cap", because that's the only place I wear it. Hubs.

In your case it really doesn't matter. Like the morning after Thanksgiving in ROC standing in line at the McDonalds. I figured an AirTran pilot with that many ALPA stickers all over his flight bag (Jeesh, my daughter has less on her lunch box) it had to be you. Dude, I don't think the hat helps YOUR cause......

Loco:laugh:

You must be bald, ugly or a bore those are the people that get a woody from wearing the hat.

Look it is just a hat we aren't looking to rewrite the new testament. Make it optional if you really like looking like a Skycap.

LOSE THE FREAKING HAT.

Its also a generational argument between old and young or between open and closed minded. You guess who is on what side.

It they want us to look and act like pilots from 1970 then they should pay us like a pilot from 1970

They do -- they just didn't adjust for 37 years of inflation. ;)

$200,000 today is roughly $36,000 in 1970 dollars. So there ya go!

Like I tell my six year old... it is not about you... the point?............

Ensuring the passengers and management know the difference. I can assure you.....managment wants to pay you the same and lav cleaners

Perhaps you really don't mind if you can distinguish your paycheck from an aircraft cleaners?

No... that is your justification for looking like an aircraft cleaner...

And what do the pilots think of thier uniform? And what is next... polar tec fleece and crocs?

I don't really like the hat. But it isn't about me.

Anytime any organization wants to use the image of an Air Line Pilot, the hat is used. Earlier this year, SWA's spring timetable had a pilot with hat.

Face it guys.... you don't like the hat, because you lack character, self respect and pride in profession... you think you look goofy... and you probably do what that embarrassed look on your face....

We have a winner!!!!!!

Amongts losers.....
