from what I understand it all depends on when your background check gets back to DM after your interview. The guys in my class that had their background checks completed first were offered a choice. I was not offered a choice as my background check was one of the last to come in.

Hmmm???

Well they have this "Dart Board" seeeee.......

And they throw a dart at it.....seeeee...

And thats what you get!

I think it may also be available sim dates. You can opt to wait for a certain aircraft but that will certainly effect your seniority.

(Disclaimer: This information is my opinion and over 6 years old)

Is the X a good selection? I have heard you do work alot though.

It depends. Do you like small cockpits and transcons?

do you have to have your ATP to get interviewed at NJ or is just the written ok?

Straight from the NetJets' website, you must have your ATP to be considered:

To qualify as a NetJets Aviation (Citation, Hawker, Falcon, Gulfstream 200, Boeing aircraft) pilot candidate you must have the following prerequisites:
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Multi-Engine Land)
  • Current FAA First Class Medical certificate
  • 2500 hours total pilot time
  • 500 hours fixed wing multi-engine time
  • 250 hours instrument time (actual or simulated in flight - excludes simulator time)

How DO they decide what fleet a newhire gets??

It's called Pilot Plinko!!

Your name is attached to a Plinko Chip. Your chip is placed at the top of the Plinko Board and at the bottom are all available fleets that are needeing staffing.

Your chip is released and BAM!!! You have an assignment.

It's actually a formula based upon your height, age, social security number and Planck's constant.

Does one get to pick in class or is it ( the choice of aircraft) offered by DM when called for a job offer / class date?

When they call to offer you a job they tell you what aircraft are available/you qualified for and what the class dates are.
