General, I'll eat crow when DAL buys the 1st used MD90 even if in your mind it makes good sense. A better plan would be to sell the existing MD90's and buy new Boeings with later technology and better fuel specs, especially when the cost of fuel keeps going up.

On another note WTF. My company booked a seat on a DAL flight today and as it turns out my 1st class seat costs less than coach on the same flight when we are still six days out before departure. Not complaining but it proves that the folks is revenue are really screwed up. Not complaing about the seat mind you, but one has to wonder. 2nd time this has happened in a month.

That logic will only work so long. When the competition starts flying 787' or 350's and saving from 20 to 25% in fuel plus the increased costs as the B767/757's start to age, the difffences in operating costs combined with the aging aiframes will push Delta into the 787 or whatever can be used to maintain a competitive edge.

Each airframe has its market. The planned growth for DAL calls for more 777s, not 787s. According to RA, the 787 will not meet the market demand DAL plans. I'm sure the 767s will need to be replaced eventually, but the average age is 11 years for the 300ERs. There is still plenty of life left in those jets.

Will you post a picture, because you are going to be eating crow far sooner than you think.;)

You might be right as I'm not so sure about myself as you are. Not sure you know much about my history at DAL or where I'm at the moment, but I'm comfortable in my position at this hour. Could always be wrong.......but?

Dude

Sorry, but you are wrong. GL will tell you that Delta's Old 767s and Older Ex-TWA 757s are more fuel efficient when flown at Delta. Also, only their(Delta'a) 777s will provide the same fuel efficiency as 787s, just because they are Delta's and the routes chosen for these A/Cs are the most fuel efficient, especially when flown out of ATL. Just stay tuned for more. The Gen will give u the numbers.

Can someone translate this statement, is there a special flight mode that you guys use, or fly everywhere at LRC???

RA stated that DAL has signed a term sheet to buy 9 of these aircraft already. I wouldn't think he would mention it at an employee town hall meeting, as the new CEO trying to gain credibility with the employees, unless he were serious about it.

That being said, this is aviation and it's never a done deal until the aircraft is on your ramp and has actually flown a revenue flight.

DAL seems enthusiatic about the aircraft due to the low cost of acquisition, approximately 1/3rd the price of a 737, the low fuel burn, and the fact that these are still relatively new aircraft at 8-9 years.
