Hot damn! Pretty soon those awful new uniforms will outnumber the old... 27% of the active pilots/trainees are '07 vintage. If people actually start going to mainline, the demographics of this airline will change dramatically. Although most of the 17+ year guys probably aren't going anywhere.

If 100 (BS as per management memo) upgrades are awarded next year, the upgrade will reach down to '06 hires, maybe senior '07's with the time (in end of '08, early '09). Oh, just another carrot to dangle in front of us... O, to be a junior Captain at PDT!!!!!!!!

those new uniforms are gayer than aids! they're gonna have to change their upgrade time to less than 3000 pilots if that's the case. i personally don't believe 100 upgrades next year, i don't believe anything that comes from our puppet managers!!

This is a perfect case for how the market works. You hire people with less than 300 hours hoping they'll move on before they become a headache, and just the few that sit around until they reach the 3000 hour mark are plenty for a glacial upgrade rate.

Ooops.

IF this movement really happens, it's going to be a wreck... you can't upgrade a 260 hour kid in 18 months no matter how hard you try- because the insurance isn't going to budge on 3K.

At least they have a couple of big classes coming up now. I was a september hire, yes I have more than 260hrs, and there are already 50 names behind me. I was very shocked to see that there are only 7 2006 hires left on the list...

a little off subject, but did anyone else here see or hear that the FAA will be prohibiting ANR headsets in 121 cockpits very very soon?

Can you say street Captains in the near future?

Why would insurance be a problem? AWAC and Great Lakes are able to get insurance on 1500hr captains. PDT shouldn't have a problem.
