Spirit Interview MD80 Sim Eval

A friend of mine has an interview soon and it looks like they are doing an sim eval in the md 80 FTD now.

Anybody knows anything about that?

Some guy at aviationinterviews said it would be an airbus device. Anyways what's with the spirit minimums 2K and 250 multi not even an ATP is required are they having trouble finding pilots?

Greetings..I have an interview scheduled on the 28th of this month, and the email sent to me said there would be a 3 to 4 person panel interview and a short written exam and thats it.

2000 hours is more than that required by Delta and Northwest.

From what I've heard, and I'm sure some Spirit guys in the know will chime in, it sounds like glass experience is what they're really looking for these days, and flight times vary.

I think 1000 Turbine PIC is still a hard min from what I've read.

I know 1k used to be a "hard" min, but that has changed. I don't think it is a hard min anymore. There are people who have gotten interviewed with less and without any internal rec.

Greetings..I have 500 PIC turbine and no internal recs, although I will need letters for the interview and got an interview so I am not really sure what their mins are.

Spirit Hiring

About 8 months ago or so was talking to a Spirit FA that was also a pilot. He was low time, just finishing his ME-COMM. He said that Carlson was going to put him into the pilot program. I just smiled and nodded, knowing that's not how it works, whatever. It's nice to have a dream that seems so very easy.

THEN....

I was at AirBus last month and ran into a new Spirit pilot with less than 800 hours TOTAL time. (not the FA from before). That's pretty cool getting a type rating on an AirBus before you can actually fly single pilot 135. This pilot I understand is an experiment to see if they can train/type an extremely low time pilot. I guess you'll see if this will work, they do it already all over the world. Anyway, I also heard, while I was at AirBus, that Spirit is looking into an ab-intio program with Embry Riddle. Has any Spirit pilot heard anything about this? Are they going to only hire a certain percentage of these wonder pilots? They can't upgrade these pilots for a long time I'm sure, but it would be cool to be an AirBus captain with...maybe 2000 hours.

As long as these kids understand what a HUGE oppurtunity this is I can handle it but I have a sinking feeling that some will feel "entitled" to their job.

You know I've gotta say it..., wth is the deal over there, lol? I mean, they're taking 800 hour guys (experimental as ya said) now, but I still haven't gotten a call, lol! Had an internal rec, over 1000TPIC, 1100-1200 Multi, but no call. Now, I know my times are no where near most of yours, but at least I'm finally applying to places where I'm exceeding minimums. I just figured they'd be competitive at the current time. My buddy there keeps telling me how much they need pilots, but ugh, this is depressing. I have all single-pilot experience in round dialed airplanes, which I know they don't favor at the moment and I understand why, but NOW hearing this, it's like getting a kick in the pills, lol. Poor me, ok, pitty party over. Excuse me while I put my flame suit on...
