No worries. This isn't a front burner political issue. It's not even back burner. With the election season starting to gear up, the only bills that will make their way through Congress are non-controversial bipartisan supported bills. In other words, we've got gridlock until after the elections.


I'm now starting to favor a change to the age 60 rule; just imagine how much safer the skies will be; we won't have over 60 year olds falling asleep after flying three redeyes in a row, unlike the F9 crew. You know, with the greater physical and cognitive abilities of our seniors, the skies will be much safer. :erm:

I am sure that you have never checked your eyelids in the cockpit...........the sad part about it was that if they did not report it to NASA it would have never been public.......

It happens on over 50% of "redeyes" in my opinion.

Plenty of times. And as I get older, the more times I nod off.
If you think that having older pilots in the cockpit is safer, well, I respectfully disagree with you. And the FAA's CAMI reports confirm this.

Not only are ASAP/NASA reports not confidential anymore, now you got pilots from competing airlines taking that information and calling them out on a public forum. Class act Andy.

That those reports became public is terrible, but I didn't read Andy's post the way you did.

The ALPA Blue Ribbon Panel would be a good start...make sure you copy NATCA to it as well, wouldn't want to forget the "unjust" mandatory retirement age of 56 for our hard-working air traffic controllers.
 
Heck yah...give me a guaranteed government pension, and I'd seriously consider retiring at 56...:cool:

But we're not talking about pensions.

We're talking about what is fair and unfair, just and unjust, right? I mean, if you can still do the job to standards why have some arbitrary rule "fire" you, regardless of your type of retirement account.

Um, OK. I didn't expect that to offend anyone; it's public knowledge on this forum. I guess that I should keep in mind that in this PC society, estrogen rules.

Why did I include the airline? Because, and this may be a misperception on my part, but F9 crews are, on average, younger than many other airlines, including mine. Again, NOT meant as a slight on the crews of F9; every F9 crewmember that I've met has been a class act.

I gotta admit that I find your post rather humorous; I stopped being bothered by people making (by my perception) negative comments about my airline long ago. And I'd bet that if I dug through some posts, I might even find you taking a shot or two at other airlines - intentional or unintentional.
