Most middle managers just don't care enough, it's easier for all involved to just follow the rules.
J.O. had been using this as a selling point to recruit new hires so I just thought I would let the entire world know the truth. I am a CRJ F.O. and I have everything that I am eligible to bid on my standing bid. I just found out that my upgrade class will be next year at the earliest. This indicates that my upgrade time at Mesa will occur after the 3.5 year mark.
Non compliance with our contract.
Management refuses to meet with our negotiating committee at all or even release them to take care of union business.
Hawaiian Airlines is suing us.
The Delta “Expansion” will result in a net loss of planes which will reduce the companies need for pilots.
This is a recipe for a long upgrade and a very miserable work experience for you.
Only you can decide what is right for you. With virtually every airline hiring the most professional advise that I can give you is to steer well clear of Mesa in your job search.
If you are a newbie at Mesa and you happen to be on the CRJ your equipment lock is now permanent. You can only upgrade to CRJ captain. You can not upgrade to ERJ captain unless you are an ERJ F.O. If there is any doubt look at standing bid 07-19 dated 4/2/07 before you accuse me of not knowing what I am talking about. I am still stunned at the looks and comments that guys fresh off of IOE give me. Most argue with me. Just look at the bid and you will see. O yea call the union to. They will explain it just like I did.
I hope all the SkyWest pilots read this thread...a lot of them seem to feel that once you have a "contract" management can't violate it.
HA
a lot of Skywest Pilots are ex- Mesa pilots myself included. Mesa= Skywest Pilot development program
If you guys let the current trend continue, you won't be able to tell the difference between MESA and Skywest.

Get out of Mesa while you still can!!!!!!!! It's like the Titanic.

legal recourse...oh yeah that's effective. Hey 5 years after it's settled you'll get your check for $100.
Sounds like the standard ALPA advise. "Fly it now...Grieve it later". MUCH later (years) it is either settled with a very small monetary compensation, or it is forgiven as part of the next contract negotiations.
Yeah, except the captain of the Titanic had enough sense of honor to go down with his ship after he sunk it.
That Mesa CEO will be the first to jump off when the inevitable happens, and will no doubt loot the treasury first too.
It is my guess he's already transferring money and assets to protected places. Many believe (myself included) J.O. to be corrupt. He's certainly ethically bankrupt.
Mesa is in the early-mid stages of collapse. Its business philosophy was time limited as sooner or later, something like what's happening there would've occured.
We can only hope Mesa ceases operations ASAP and somehow J.O. goes to Prison. With his money though, he'll more than likely "O.J." his way out of trouble.
Let's not forget that when he was a stockbroker (with numerous terminations on his resume), he had a history of unauthorized trading, misrepresntation and DOCUMENT ALTERATION. He was initially fined and suspended and finally the government revoked his license.
Google "Johnathan Ornstein" and select the Wikipedia Bio...................and smell the stench.
Mesa pilots, THIS is the cockroach you've hitched your trailer to.
Enjoy your Mesa career.
Hey...F.U. He was'nt here when some of us got on board. We want him and M.L. gone, a decent contract and the contiuation of jobs for the people here. You think your regional is so much better...you are a joke! Gee look at me I'm the 3rd tallest midget in the room. HA.
