500 upgrades due to attrition and the J4J guys going back. Shuttle is getting 170 flying for United out of SFO. 8 to 9 month upgrade depending on what you want to fly.

???? Where are you getting this info? Just spoke with an MEC from RW and he said 186 upgrades effective Jan 1.

Still about 10% of the seniority list....Wow!

Don't forget about the 70 E175s they just ordered. 2009 delivery. Thats why BB was out of country for a couple days. ExpressJet is gonna be pissed about this one....

They gonna fly em with 50 seats in them?

Bingo. That's the big question.

COA ALPA doesn't have the ability to vote over scope, right? Its all up to the MEC, correct? Sounds funny to me too.

Um, no. Not unless crew planning calls me sometime today. The 150-200 figure is more accurate for the near future. Some of those effective dates are in May for the current bid that is out, so even if a 9 month hire was awarded an upgrade from the current bid, it would be more like a 16 month upgrade by the time you are on the line. I think thats a little optimistic though. I am at the 9 month mark right now and there are about 400-500 in front of me for upgrade. That doesn't even take care of half of them through May.

Its not us that will be mad, it would be the CAL pilots. They will not give on scope, even if Larry threatens to get rid of pensions if they don't. United used that tactic and their pilots still lost 'em.

I hope the COA guys are able to hang on to it. However, I was under the impression that scope relief is not up for vote. Instead, it's up to the MEC to decide.

The CAL MEC will not approve of scope relief anyway, but if they did, it would still go out to the general membership for a vote. I don't think any MEC would be crazy enough to pass a scope change without membership ratification, and most MEC policy manuals prohibit it.

Someone told me we'll be well under two years to upgrade on the 170 by summer...UA out of SFO? That's a new one! But, Frontier flying was kind of a suprise too...

only on flightinfo.com would some ridiculous rumor like this start.

upgrade right now on 170 is close to 3 years.

and now that the company is training out of seniority again completely disregarding seniority I would stay far far away from this company. who knows what they will do next. seniority means nothing here.

also the next 170 base will be in Dulles, worlds worst run airport, this is direct from United. Go to Skywest where seniority is respected.

Not true!! Sort of...The last award has a 8/05 hire on the 170. This is only an award. I dont know if that person is in class yet. I seriously doubt that it will take much past Jan or Feb for this person to get into class.
But what do I know...Im just a pilot.
Oh and about the upgrade out of seniority, It appears that they are following the contract.
They just seem to have found a loophole in our rocksolid airtight contract.

I think you should resign if you don't like it here and take your own advice. Let me know how the SKYW thing goes w/out a union......

Let me know how the SKYW thing goes w/out a union......

1. Min pay per day, for everyone, not just reserves.
2. Full Cancelation Pay.
3. No one JR to you flying around as Captain.
4. Top of the line PBS bid system.

All this and NO union DUES? sounds good to me.

This just in, S5 to hire street captains. Minimums are 800 TT, 100 ME, ATP written, ability to read, speak and understand english.

The last guy in upgrade is a 4/06 hire he was awarded the 200 out of corpus. The upgrade will be quicker than the 50 hundred guys in front of me because I'm not passing anything up. Most of these chq mainline guys don't want to play in the 200 and some don't want the 145 either. So while they sling gear from the right waiting for the dream 170 left. I'll be one step closer in that lovely crj left pushing all those damn buttoms.

Wait....CHQ MAINLINE? Is that what you guys call the 170 operation?
Ha, I was just wondering the exact same thing. I did not know there was a CHQ Mainline.

Good advice. I took it and left. Upgrading out of seniority was the main reason I decided to leave before upgrading. When seniority is all you have in this industry and the company abuses that, it's time to look elsewhere. The union is also a joke and lets the company walk all over the contract.

The schedules are good for a regional as far as time off goes. That's the best thing RAH offers.

It is what it is though: a regional.

I was JSing on F9 and they were saying by early next year they were "going to be turning a corner" and it had to do with growth and one seniority list with Lynx and Republic. I know the mainline pilots have been pushing hard for this and rumors usually turn into fact pretty quick at F9. That would mean a lot of shifting to a base in Denver, but it's commutable from anywhere. I keep hearing an SFO rumor for Express, too. F9 is already looks at the 170 as part of the family and recently started mixing the routes and gates with the mainline Airbus. The only thing distinguishing the two pilot groups is the contract ,and that is always being ammended.
I don't think it would include the whole airline seniority list just the Express side, so it might be a good idea to inch your way over to that flying before the door shuts.

1. Min pay flying for 50 seat rates on a 90 seat A/C
2. We got that also
3. You'll be pay protected
4. Top of the line??? PBS sucks period

Step up to the plate bus..... you sound like one of our crj new hires who thinks he should be sittin in the left seat after 2 months of being here.

And RP170, weren't you just about to upgrade before you left? I thought you took the NJA job for quality of life....Upgrade there is gonna be 5+ years not the 2 years here.

I respect your opinion but if you are unhappy here, LEAVE!

The biggest problem with our current contract is the language which = loopholes

RAH will get this fixed for our next contract along with many other great ideas that are being put forward. Our volunteers are great people and will fight for an industry leading contract making life better for all of us. Including the other companies so the bar can start going UP!

Fight for an industry leading contract!

Stay United

PS If you are so angry, volunteer and help outso you can use your energy for a better cause instead of bitching about it on FI.com
