I had a problem filling out aircraft flight time. It only gave you a choice of something like jet, or ME Turbine. So if I were to add a single engine plane, I only had those 2 choices to use. So If I comes down to an interview, hopefully I can get that cleared up..

Read the notes above the aircraft section. They only want up to 12 jet and/or ME turboprop aircraft submitted. It doesn't ask for piston.

Section II: Flight Time In this next section you will provide additional information about your flight time. When recording flight time, please note the following:
  • All flight time must be substantiated by certified Flight Records.
  • Be as accurate as possible.
  • Do not record fractional hours. Round to the nearest whole hour.
  • Do not add military conversion.
  • List all fixed-wing jet aircraft and all fixed-wing multi-engine turboprop aircraft flown up to a maximum of twelve aircraft.
  • List all aircraft in order flown beginning with the most recent.
  • UPS considers Instructor/Evaluator time as PIC time. List the PIC and Instructor/Evaluator time separately in the appropriate columns.
  • Relief pilot time does not count as PIC time.
  • Pilot-In-Command (PIC) time must meet all three requirements as outlined in FAR 1.1 'Definitions' listed below.
  • Pilot-In-Command (PIC) means the person who:
    1) Has final authority and responsibility for the operation and safety of the flight;
    2) Has been designated as the pilot in command before or during the flight; and
    3) Holds the appropriate category, class, and type rating, if appropriate, for the conduct of the flight.

After I finished the app, I got the following message: Thank You
spacer.gif
"We have received and reviewed your background application information. Unfortunately, we currently have many qualified applicants and will not be able to schedule you for additional testing at this time. Thank you for your interest in UPS."

That's GOOD, right?

Hope I'm wrong but I think it means you "didn't pass" one of the questions, whatever that might have been...

I received the same message after filling out my application and asked the question on another board.

There were a few different answers to me, but a couple of pilots claimed to get an interview offer after that message, sometimes within a week or two.

I wish it let me do the second evaluation, but maybe we haven't quite been shot down yet..... I'm hoping.

guam,

The only reason I ask is because I also got the above mentioned reply, and have been wondering what triggered it.

Maybe I missed something when filling out the app, I dont know.

I have heard that they have gone to some kind of a randomized selection method. So maybe everybody who is qualified gets that message, and then they run another sort of the qualified applicants, and then some get scheduled for further testing. I think recs only matter after you have been randomly selected.

Ok guys. I received the following message at the end of my App. to schedule an interview with HR. Any thoughts; good or bad?

The next available appointment is on:
There are no more appointments available.

Thanks

The schedule an appointment function does not apply to pilots. Everyone who pushes that button gets the same message.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I would jst have to kick myself if I mess this up.

If you have a prior application on file, from last year, do you still need to reapply? I updated my previous application, but it is listed for a second officer.

Yes! UPS only uses the latest application to determine who gets an interview. Any old applications in the system are useless; although it may show continued interest if anybody cares to look. Good luck!

Well, not if you can log in and update the old one...

I was told you can update the old one all you like and it will do you no good. I know that when I interviewed I had applications still active and updated from previous windows and they used the one from the current window; that was a few months ago. Even to this day I can still update those old ones. I certainly could be wrong but that is what I have heard and witnessed with my application. It seems to have something to do with the way they (or the computer) selects candidates. AV80R might be right who really knows!

Until a few weeks ago I believed exactly what you’d said. However, recently a friend of a friend got an interview and he only had an “old” application that was updated. Last time he actually “applied” was in the spring of 2006 so now I am even more confused. On the “other” site we have a thread running where a person who knows someone at the HR department will try to dispel some of the rumors. I’m really looking forward to what he finds out…

That would be great if you could find out the truth. I am sure there are alot of great pilots waiting in the wings that would love to know what they need to do. Thanks for the info.

You bet ya - I've always thought it's best to get your info straight from the source...

Hi.......

1) Does anyone know how it works after a buddy of yours at UPS puts in your information................... but you have already put in the application for the 2007 position?
He doesn't know of any "invitation code".
He says they link his recommendation up with your resume but doesn't know how.

2) The 2007 application will not let me go into it to makes sure it is updated with my uploaded resume because it says "On File".

Does that mean the resume must have been uploaded for it to say complete and "On File"?

3) Just what does "Active" and "On File" mean?

I know it was asked here before but I can't seem to find it and am busy outside working on a project.

If someone already answered the or these questions could u direct me to it in exchange for a beer. =o)

Oooops going back and reading I see some of the questions are being discussed but not all of them.

The owner of the "other" site works for UPS and he'll try to answer many of those questions this week when he meets up with the HR. There's a whole new thread over there with people asking him to forward their questions to the HR...Yours looks like one of the questions I saw earlier being posted...

My application was also missing the flight time application supplement. I sent a message through "contact us" and chose the link below. I received an email just a few hours later that stated the the supplement had been added to my application and it was indeed added.

After reading your post only today 8/27 I realised that my app did not have a flight time supplement. Ugh. So I've sent off to the contact us link you put up. Hope it gets cleared up. Wonder if I've been forgotten about already and not considered. That would be a major bummer if so.

Did you fill out a previous application? If so, and it is up on the application page, you should be able to fill out that one. Mine had both First Officer and Second Officer, the time page just transfered over and there was minimal changes. The S/O had the flight time supp. on it. If you cant get it resolved, make sure your resume is uploaded and hopefully they go on that and send you a supp. There are others in your situation. No one can explain why. If your application says "active" your in good shape (vs. "on file") If you can't work it out this time, there is always next time, just hope thats not the case. Good luck!

Wonder why the Second Officer of 2006 would say "Active" and the First Officer of 05/06/2007 would say "On File" this was before my buddy recced me this weekend.

But again still stays the same today.

Ok I used the contact link and got a response today that the flight time supplement was added. Going to fill it in now. Fingers crossed that I'm not too late realisticly this round. I got in just a few hours after the window opened and was hoping that would help me. Seems... it might not have. Oh well nothing to do about it now other than go forward.

Yeah I met for dinner with my sponsor last night and he said he had done all he could with the online documents. He said its all computerized now. The last three he put in for did get hired but that was the 2006 bid before the format changed.
