Have 2 interviews later this month. One is at Emirates and the other at Evergreen. I'm a 5th year Captain at a very good regional. Don't know much about Evergreen even after doing research on the internet. Pros and cons for both jobs. Anyone have any info or advice if I'm fortunate enough to get offers from one or both companies?

go to both interviews and get more info on themwhile you are there then make the decision, hopefully both offer you the job but maybe non will.i would choose emeriates.

Good advice. Evergreen does not have a great track record. Emirates treats their pilots well I am told.
Good Luck

Remember, being "treated well" is a very relative term. It can all depend on what one's personal expectations are, as well as how open their eyes are when entering into a particular endeavor.

I'm sure that typhoonpilot will come in eventually and give his thoughts.

Evergreens got a nasty track record. History of furloughs and shady managemnet. Please don't leave a decent job with the lure of flying a Jumbo to international destinations. Take it from a non-sched Jumbo driver, it's a hefty price to pay in QOL for the privelage. Emirates on the other hand would fill all of the previously mentioned blanks and you would be working for a much more professional orginization flying better (much better) equipment with some good looking gals in the back. Downside is, you'll have to move to Dubai. Upside is, Dubai's not a terribly bad place to spend a while at.

Thanks for all the advice. Emirates would be more of a career move, although if I don't like it I'd be stuck for 3 years due to the $36k bond. Evergreen would be used as a stepping stone to hopefully get to UPS or FedEx. That new transoceanic requirement for UPS hurts. I feel I need something on my resume to stand out from the other thousands of RJ Captains, all our resumes probably look very similar.

I heard that either ups or fedex (dont remember who) requires that you live in the states for I think 5 consecuative years. So if you move to dubai, there goes your 5 consecuative years. If you search for it, I am sure you will find more info, I read that in a post similar to this a while back

that is right both require that you live in the states for five years before being hired. has to do with being able to hual us mail and security or something.

I'm working for Emirates and have been here a little over two years. So far I don't regret joining, but definitely do your homework before jumping in. It isn't for everyone. They take the 3 yr bond here pretty seriously and it's important to note that the 3 years starts when you finish your initial line training, so it's really about 3 1/4 years by the time you do the math. FedEx requires 5 years of US residency but UPS doesn't so you'd be okay in that regard. I would encourage you to come to Dubai and have a look around before making a decision. Dubai is a decent place to live but only you can answer whether it is a good fit for you. Good luck.
