had 3 feet from the top of the tail to the doors thats not counting the antenna on top. just under 2 feet with the antenna it was close. can not raise the roof due to the runway next to it. FAA required clearance

How many mx guys are they actually down to, and where are you putting all the stuff at the gate. There wasen't that much room out there before and I can only imagine what it looks like now without expanding or taking over someone elses gate shack area.

soon to be less than twenty to cover all 3 shifts, all tooling is going to dtw,cwa--we took over the rampers shack next to the old gate shack

Supposedly there is a large expansion of the facilities at CWA (Central Wisconsin) and that will be where much of the CRJ work gets done.... We will still have the DTW hangar too. But yes CVG and MSP hangars are history.

Expansion is for the Saab Heavy Check. However, it will probably not be a building/facilities expansion, just in manpower and work.

E175 can fit through the door at MSP but only if the nose is raised high enough with the tug (similar to the CRJ tugs or supertugs). Raise the nose - tail pivots down.

Continental ran into this exact scenario in the 90's and were looking at closing a mx base until the employees showed how it would work. They kept the mx base operating.

Not to imply that NW/XJ are that smart.

OOooh oooh! And they could deflate the tires and struts, too!

Word on the street says Rep. Oberstar has insisted NWA open up that behemoth hangar in DLH in order to have any future chance at all in flying these new China routes (recently lost to United by the DOT - of which Oberstar heads up). It was part of his 06 renomination campaign pledge to the nice people of Duluth and surrounding iron rangers. Payback for the millions the state of Mn. brought in to build that thing in the first place. And small consolation to the employees left in the lurch in DLH. This hangar would easily accomidate either/or the EMB or the XJ900. hmmmm ...

Your childish response isn't necessary - it shows a lack of understanding and knowledge.

The story of the CAL mx facility is in the book "From Worst To First" for your future reference and they were moving much larger airplanes than a CRJ900.
