Don't get wrapped around the axle on local union politics. I'm talking about the national union that has a duty to protect your interests. They beat each other up on the Comair forum about who voted for or against, but they're overlooking a key element to the story. We were sold out by our union.
Discovery and depositions are almost over. Confidence is high.
The Delta pilots didn't want their consessions to buy you an E170 to fly.
If they could adjust their scope clause and drive at least some of that flying off the property, that objective would be met. So we get a Delta scope clause that now permits contractors who already operate planes with more than 70 seats to bid on Comair flying thus expanding the list of potential Delta Connection operators. While we were being told we have to RFP our own flying, those block hours were not just going off the property, they were going out of the union to Republic and Skywest.
This was all done without the knowledge or consent of the Comair MEC by
union representatives at Delta you did not get to vote for and who won't return your phone calls. Brand Scope is nothing but a sham.
Before we can fix the whipsaw, we have to fix the union.
Stay tuned.
