2 years ago with no DL pilot hiring in sight, you loaded your guns and pointed it lock stock and barrel at us. I see now that we're hiring, your "toned down" change in postings is noticeable!

Apologies to everyone who isn't 737Pylt for the thread creep.
(1) Chuck Giambusso and Duane Woerth were two of the major players in ALPA's decision to lock out the Connection pilots out of bargaining with their employer over matters of their wages and working conditions. They are both no longer serving in their positions of power.
(2) ALPA has adjusted its position on binding parent companies and Comair's most recent contract has Delta Air Lines, Inc. as a signatory. This is hopefully the reversal in ALPA's representational position which indicates they will allow all ALPA members to have some sort of effective scope.
(3) The "Request for Proposal" concept where 49% of Delta Inc. flying will be sent out to the lowest bidder is in full stride and Delta's seniority list is down around 2/3rds of where it was as a result.
For the lower 1/3 of the Delta list where their flying is being performed by Comair, Mesa, Chautauqua, JetExpress, Shuttle America, Freedom, SkyWest, ASA (and whoever else I'm forgetting)
that battle has been lost.
(4) Delta has made long term commitments to operate aircraft which are not the best fleet choices on a CSM/RPASM basis. These choices make Delta less competitive that it would otherwise be. These fleet choices were (and are) being forced by somewhat arbitrary scope restrictions with encourage operation of aircraft at less than their capabilities and smaller aircraft that what other wise would be called for.
My positions have not changed. ALPA made some horrendous mistakes - many of which were driven by the Delta MEC for political reasons. These errors in ALPA representation had predictable results. I have argued for hours hoping to help people understand why ALPA apartied policies would harm our union and the Delta pilots. Obviously my attempt to follow in the footsteps of Ben Franklin to get political change within our union failed.
737Pylt - you won. There are no junior Delta pilots performing the flying that the 737-200's, Delta Express, the DC-9's performed. Everything in the Delta fleet is being optimized for long range flying and the domestic side is (in large part) being done by Connection guys who have to be cheaper than everyone else or risk being replaced after 5 years of longevity.
There are union hold outs at ASA and Comair but in sheer numbers the rebels have us overwhelmed. It will always be my position that Delta should have stapled the ASA and Comair guys on the bottom and kept the DCI flying in house, (allowing Delta to operate the right sized jets in house) but that battle is so far lost....If there is any change in my position it is that I'm done being Don Quixote, learned my lesson and moved on.
