All you "hard core" union "chest thumpers" should be firmly rejecting this aircraft. I say send it back to Europe.

Airbus is the only competitor to Boeing and does everything to undermine all they have worked for. Airbus has rejected numerous safety implementations requested by the FAA for their aircraft. They give airplanes away for free for a limited time. They have broken promises to American companies that employ folks like you. And many more.

My appolgies for a fellow American's bad grammar.

Should have been weenie European surrendering trash.

'cept for the Germans, of course.

Here is our Big New Fancy Jet! It has a gym and a shopping mall, and not to mention it can carry over 500 people. Isn't it pretty? To bad we just have no idea when we are gonna actually deliver it.

But when we do we will offer 20 years no payments or interest and throw in all the spare parts you want!

The problem is the plane is obsolete before it even enters service. It's old technology and it's extremely heavy.

Well, when you guys learn how to land an airplane with some finesse we will stop!

CRED ALERT!

After you've actually landed an aircraft with a landing gear truck that weighs more than the aircraft you're flying right now...log on and give us some lessons!

(sheesh!)

It definitely looked like the number 1 reverser did not deploy.. Either way, the guys I fly with that have Airbus time tell me its very hard to have a bad landing.

Actually the A380 only has reversers on 2 and 3. From what I understand, Airbus did not want to put any reversers on it. However the FAA made it a requirement for them if they wanted it to fly in the US.

Did anyone else see the large rudder inputs the pilot made just after touch down this morning at KLAX with the A380?

The touch down on the 4 mains was smooth but with the nose wheel still up in the air, the pilot went into reverse thrust (you could see the reverser cowlings on the engines sliding aft, indicating he had initiated reverse thrust) almost immediately the a/c lerched to the left as I saw the huge rudder deflect to the left - then he corrected back to centerline and you could see it lerch back to the center of the runway.

This a/c only had Airbus flight test crews on board. The only other landing I saw was a few months ago when Airbus flight test landed at some airshow in Europe - that landing was absolutely terrible - unstable approach, rocking wings and rocking touch down!!

Any see how the landing went at KJFK?

Looks like we have the character to base "40 year old virgin 2" on. You are a dork man get a life. Its french there fore we don't care.

Are you flying in the US right now? If so, you have a lot of nerve to say that when you are taking our jobs away from us.
Flying in US and always have been! I'm not taking your job away from you because you are never going to get anywhere with your attitude

They all fly the same. Same principles, weight does not matter. You should know that.

And obviously you have never flown a fighter, much less any Mig or Sukhoi fighter like your credits state. Just curious, wtf is hard about a brasilia? Give me a break.

Dork.

You would know if you had flown it. And BTW, who cares if you have flown fighters?

What do you think? Are you better than the rest? You think just because you got assigned fighters that you are a better stick than someone else?

Seriously.

Look guys, it was a pretty crappy landing. There is no harm in making fun of it.

Relax. Get a hot tea. Breathe. There you go!

Explain how the principles of flying a large (heavy) aircraft vs. a small (light) aircraft are different.

Enlighten us!

The difference is the large range of possible landing weights. I'm not sure what the A380's max landing weight is, but in the only heavy I've flown, there can be a variance of 400,000# from one day to the next. A C-5 has no max landing weight; if it can takeoff, it can land. I've landed it at 760,000# for real and 840,000# in the sim and I've landed it empty at 400,000#.

Totally different airplane in every aspect at 700-800k than at 400-500k.

Agreed. However, a C172 also becomes a totally different aircraft from MGOW to BEW. Even though the 172's range of useful load is in the hundreds, it still has the exact same overall effects on performance.

Airplane gets heavier, performance decreases.

Airplane gets lighter, performance increases.

Thus, a change in useful load has the same effect on a large body aircraft as a small bodied aircraft.
