Delta Air Lines given more time related to reorganization plan

(AP) - ATLANTA-A New York federal bankruptcy court judge gave Delta Air Lines Inc. more time to get creditor approval of its reorganization plan before competing plans are allowed to be filed.
Judge Adlai Hardin granted the Atlanta-based company's request to extend its so-called exclusivity period from April 16 to June 1.

The order was dated Thursday and entered Friday.
Delta has said the extension - its fourth such request - was necessary because a confirmation hearing on its reorganization plan is scheduled for April 25, after the exclusivity period was set to expire.
Delta, the third-largest U.S. carrier, wants to prevent other competing plans from being filed until after it has a chance to finish soliciting votes on its own plan, which calls for the airline to emerge from bankruptcy in the spring as a standalone carrier.
In its March 5 motion, Delta said it was not making the request as a negotiating tactic, and it insisted it is on course to emerge from bankruptcy on the schedule it set.
Delta has projected it will be worth $9.4 billion (€7.05 billion) to $12 billion (€9.01 billion) after it exits bankruptcy.

June 21 is the first day of Summer... so there are 20 days of June which are in Spring... and 10 days of June which are in Summer, which means that June is not more like summer (then spring). Do you fly for Jetblue? Your guy Neeleman may be reading over the Chap 11 paperwork very carefully right now too. As Conan and General Lee pointed out, "Jetblue, the May thru August Airline." Maybe Jetblue will have so many problems that Delta will easily pick them up for cheap after they emerge with cash.

Also, the creditor committee made sure that Delta management would not get as much stake in the new company as other managements have. United initially wanted 15% stake in the new United, and they eventually got 7%. Delta creditors made the Delta management agree to only 3-4%. I am sure they will do well regardless, but they won't get as much as they could have.

( don't worry 737 I won't tell unless you REALLY piss me off :laugh: ) . In all seriousness DB you really have to take this forum for what it's really worth, a place to have some fun and on occasian find some useful info.

Most of my friends at Delta are getting over $200,000 in equity paid out in cash (before taxes), and another estimated $50,000 to $60,000 for the dumped pension. Congrats on your new TV.

Other entities got the same deals, like banks and other shareholders. They also get to divide a $650 million note, which will be seperate to the equity cash.

And NO, I do not work for Delta. I used to work for Tower Air as a 747 FO, but got laid off when we went under. I now fly a LR45 in FLA, and have several good friends at Delta whom I talk to on a regular basis. I manage the Lear and fly it, and I really enjoy it. This forum allows me to talk about the issues that I care about, and I see a lot of Delta bashing that needs to be corrected. Am I not allowed to add my opinions?

I told you before carriers in BK seem to always have the best service so have at it fellas. I also told you that carriers in contract talks always seem to have the worst and that's where we are today. Now in a few years when you open contract talks and your're done stalling and begging the BK court for more time while all the other players are out there handling theirs then we can talk but as for now, DAL is using the system to get over. I bet those fuel costs are kicking you all A$$ right about now.
