Let's start with your presentation of the facts CFIse...

As I have shown, one pilot on the bottom of the list moved up 165 numbers in the past 83 days. I have moved up 61 numbers in 90 days, as a more senior pilot. That would mean the most junior guys are moving up 55 numbers each bid, and that there are pilots in the top third of seniority, that are moving up 20 numbers each bid.

You stated that it is only 15-20 pilots per bid...where the actual seniority list is showing as many as 55 per bid. Where are your facts coming from? Mine are straight off of the seniority list. There is a reason that your opinion is different from most on the Hub....you don't back up your statements with facts.

By the way, I would like you to show me where the union has written or stated that "50 people have resigned by the 10th of the month." No such document, posting, or statement exists. Talk about exaggerating for effect.

CFIse is a troll / dont feed the trolls.

Mesa is hiring people over the telephone to be in class on Monday of the following week AND you get your choice of domicile and aircraft.

Yeah.

In fact, Mesa already hired you without you knowing it and crew tracking wants to know why you're not answering your phone for you junior assignment camping trip (board is optional).

Not true. I'm in the top third of the list. I watched my number move up 61 numbers in the past 3 months. I would say that is pretty significant for the top third of the list.

Maybe my friends were talking about based senority. My PHX friend say he's moving slowly up the list to hold a line but everytime they reduce lines. My friends at other bases say they move backwards with TDYs from PHX. They're all CRJ f/o with bout a 1 1/2 in the company.

As US Airways takes flying away from Mesa in PHX...and since PHX is generally our best staffed domicile, extra....yet very senior pilots, come out to work at the other domiciles, pushing the locals down in relative seniority within that domicile. However, global seniority is rising quickly, as has been pointed out. Total number of pilots on staff globally, is dropping much more quickly than Mesa can replace them. The HR folks are at their wits ends about how to recruit new pilots. They have elected to quit trying to recruit for Air Midwest, and just focus on Mesa. Odds are, Air Midwest won't be around much longer. They are actively being marketed, with a hope that the pilots can be moved into jets.

I have this wild idea on how Mesa, and other regionals, could recruit new pilots. Maybe they could pay them a living entry level wage like other professionals get like engineers, nurses, computer guys, etc.? Perish the thought: $40,000-$50,000/year for an entry level regional pilot entrusted with the lives of 100's of people over the course of a day and multi-million dollar equipment. Nah, forget it. That's crazy talk :)

I'm not certain if you're disputing the validity of my claim, but we lost two instructors just this last weekend in this very fashion. They're in the Dash class that started today. Two OTHER CFIs that I work with turned it down.

Also, go to ANY GA airport in the PHX area and look at the flyer hanging on the BB that says that they are hiring for all domiciles and aircraft, lists a recruiters e-mail address and doesn't mention minimums at all.

MESA/FREEDOM is the worst US carrier in the United States today. They are now feeling the effects of that. They will reap what they sow. Hopefully, they will be closing the doors sooner than later. They are the cause and the start of the misery being felt throughout the enitire commuter industry. There is only one thing left to say:

what a stupid statement. Yes...we all know mesa sucks, but as a pilot we should wish them the best and hope they get a competitive contract BEFORE they shut the doors. There are people at mesa that want to keep their jobs so they can continue to feed their kids. People wouldn't leave if it was a half-way decent place to work. Now, knowing JO...this will probably not happen. Secondly...from what I know (and correct me if I'm wrong) Freedom is a scab operation. Therefore it is unfair to group Mesa pilots with Freedom pilots. I could care less if a Freedom scab looses his/her job.

FREEDOM IS ALPA not scabs in fact know one that is at the current Freedom was at the original whipsaw Freedom. Get YOUR facts straight before you post.

Naw, just commenting on the seamless meld between our hiring dept, training, department, and crew tracking. (NOT!)

I think the gents who turned down Mesa did the smart thing. Which is really sad, because after spending years defending Mesa (not voraciously, but steadfastly) on flightinfo, I've given up on the company. Seen too much SQUEEZING by the company, and have had it.

Can't wait to get out myself. Who would recommend a job to someone if they're doing everything they can to leave it themselves.

I was just going to comment on the amazing shift in tone I have noticed in your posts. I hope you move on to greener pastures soon, but also for those who are going to stay, I really do wish you the best of luck in the upcoming negotiations. I hope you realize how much bargaining power you have, especially given the current climate in the biz. Good luck.

Sovertired,
I've noticed you on here defending Mesa, but as I recall, you never stooped to name calling. My impression is that you showed some class with your posts. I don't blame you for your reasonable posts defending were you work. There's no shame in that and no shame in using Mesa to build some experience. JO is at fault not you guys looking to either get experience or try to make Mesa a better place. It's a shame because they certainly could afford to make it a good place to work. The money they have wasted in Hawaii alone in just a couple of months of operating losses could have been used to make Mesa a good job.
Good luck, something better will come along, it always does if you don't give up.

Now... where did the MEC leader go? After all the vast improvements they were setting out to rectify - Ackerman resigns! When the contract comes up for renewal soon-- there won't be much to worry about. Perhaps who is rearranging the chairs... on the ship?

These sign-on bonuses for the new hires are the first move. What about their pilots that have literally been carrying the weight (thru JRA) of the company? Where is their bonus for pain/suffering? Or even compensation for the cancelled vacation?
