Go ahead sign away and relocate every couple of years. You will probably spend more in moving. After being at two regionals that closed bases, I personaly would not sign another training contract nor would I ever move for an airline. I am just saying there is too many uncertainties in the industry to justify signing a contract that is worth more than a first year gross pay.

And i'm just saying it's only a 12 month contract. Its purpose is to weed out the 600/50 quick time-builders that only plan on moving over to SkyWest, etc.. in 3-6 months. If you're serious about the job it should be easy to work through 12 months.

SplitBar,

I hope what you're saying is true but the less confident, 6+ year at XJ, side of me says you're fooling yourself with that line of thought. XJ is no longer above industry average and new hires don't stand as good a chance at a quick upgrade as anywhere else.

The Saab pay is well above average and the Jet pay is near average and the work rules are above industry average. As a whole, I think it's pretty safe to put it in the average - slightly above average range. That isn't counting snapbacks, creditor claim & future profit sharing (what/when ever that is?). As a 6+ year FO you couldn't have timed things worse and that sucks. I am suprised so many stuck around during the past 3 years of bull$hist. Airlines are generally cyclical and XJ is finally gettings it's upswing. Todays darling, (is there one?), will be tomorrows redheaded stepchild and vice versa.

XJ FO jet pay is the second lowest (may just be the lowest) pay in the industry. That darn blended rate. Attrition could slow down a bit after the initial wave of upgrades due to the fact that many of the infamous 6+ year FO's will take some time to get there 1000+ hours of PIC to get out of dodge. Although, places like NetJets, Spirit, and Continental help those lower on the list to have hope. I think anyway. Cya

Has anybody (that hasn't been furloughed) left before a year and got out of paying the training contract??

Yep. Lots of em did it in 2001. After the realization of double the upgrade times, flying props, and less pay hit them, off they went.
