I think you're missing this key element. The EU companies can invest their money in US airlines but won't have any say over how we are run. It will also allow a greater penetration of the European market by US carriers, which is where the $$$ are now. Domestic is nickel and dime and the domain of the LCC.

My greatest fear is that in a couple years we will have Chinese and Indian pilots over here, working for half our pay, packed 20 to a crashpad as part of some foreign airline. Maybe I am thinking too deeply into this annoucement.

The Chinese and Indians don't have enough pilots in their own countries to fly domestic routes, let alone a massive international push into US markets. Foreign airlines are paying top dollar for American pilots right now to fly everything from Dash 8s to 777s.

The only thing we can do is be political. Either vote Democrat and IF you are going to vote republican find one thats sympathetic to our cause. You can bash ALPA all you want but they have a little thing called ALPA PAC. Yes we buy politicians too just like big business. Its time to donate. JetBlue guys need to understand the political benfit of being a strong union. You guys would get it in the shorts. Im sure Neelman is not going to be fighting against the right of foriegn investors if it benefits him. You guys need to contribute. ALPA, SWAPA, APA all fight against cabatoge all the time. Support them. We are a very educated professional group, lets put it to use. The thing I like about pilots is we pick on each other all the time but if something endagers our livelyhood we can come together really quick. In order to that however we need to have an infrastructure that we can channel our efforts.

Democrats are all about open borders, as is Bush. But on the Republican side we do have many elected officals who would still like to have some sort of control of immigration.

The Democrats want all jobs, voting, and all goverment bennies opened up to anyone who walks in the door, no questions asked.

Democrats have traditionally been the friends of organized labor and not outsourcing. I know its not the "in" thing to support a dem. but thats the truth of it. I think it was Senator McCain that wanted to make pilot strikes illegal wasnt it?
