BBB Paris and Sydney are overrated. Budapest is nice or Prague but Paris you can have it. San Diego is nice on a 20 hr overnight which we do routinely. I haven't seen any 9:30 overnights here. Did have a short night after a wx delay. I haven't flown 6 legs since my IOE. Anyway, I just wanted to fix the bad poop you got. I have a feeling you made it up as you were typing.

Cheers

Ty, you're killing me. You need a 737 type to work for SWA? Well, isn't that special. I wish someone had told me that before I bid the 717.

Higher Power Aviation in Dallas. The best, bar none!!! I am finishing this week and can't say enough good about it to give it justice. First class operation. Two reps from WN came out to see us at HPA.

Chase, thanks for the visit and taking us to lunch.

Skyflier,

Thanks...glad to do it...being away from home over the holidays is no fun....thanks for your interest in SWA...hope the sims went Ok & you're a full fledge 737 type owner now with a really cool hat!! cheers,

Stupid question

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I do not wish to hijack this tread I was just hoping I could get a stupid question in. If you have a type rating for the 737 for example and you get hired with an airline does that pretty much mean that you will be flying the airplane that you already are type rated in? if so do you still have to go through the company provided training ?

Thank you for your time

The type alone does not allow the company that you work for to skip any of the required pt 121 training requirements.

For the record:
I am just considering getting the 737 type for the hell of it because I have already played the airline pilot career game and while it was extremely satisfying and enjoyable, the BS that you have to put up with along with the criminal pay was just not for me. I, for one, would like to have a retirement account when I decide to retire and this industry is just not stable, at any seniority number.
Interestingly enough, 6 months ago before I resigned, there was no way I could afford a type rating. Since then, I have my retirement account back on track, plenty of disposable income, and lots of time to fly my plane around...hmmm I guess hindsight IS 20/20. Why dont they check hindsight during your 1st class medical?

Why can't we just have a "737 Type" board here. Christ, this has been discussed a billion times - get it at the chepeast f%&@$&ing place you can find. I got a "freebie" from FTI, but it would have been $5K. Why the hell spend more on all the marketing hype at HPA!!!! 737 is 737 is 737 is 737...etc. on your ATP certificate, it doesn't matter who gave it to you.

Could you clarify this for me: FTI Offers a 737-200 Type Rating course as well as other 737 models. What will be listed on your FAA Certificate and does it matter as far as SWA or other companies requiring a 737 type rating are concerned? Thanks in advance.

Your certificate will say B737, regardless if you get it in a -100 or a -900. It's all the same rating.

At HPA, they do the ground school in -200's, you can opt to do the sim in the -300 if you want, takes an extra day but the rating is the same.

Quimby; If you dig saying "heavy" on the radio & doing twelve hour legs.....I guess that's one of those " to each his own" things too.[/quote said:
Thats what I did and I got paid to get the rating!!! You guys with your $8000 ratings enjoy my wake turb!!

Thanks I will enjoy your wake. But I will do it from my "little" 737 with my retirement, profit sharing, and a company that will care about me. You enjoy saying heavy and makeing less than me!

And make 27,000 for the first year. SW first year 55,000 type at hpa 7300. Lets see i don't think the co guys get it for free they pay more than the sw do.

It took a little extra work, but my first year pay came out to about $43k. It sure beats 6 legs a day - some of us actually DO NOT want to work for SWA, despite what most of you think...

I never said everybody should work for SW. Nor do i feel like playing my paycheck is bigger than yours. However when somebody decides to compare paying for a 737 type versus working for SW now its fair game. Thats great that you can work a little bit harder and make 43 but even second year pay at SW doesn't close to SW. So when somebody starts a rant about paying for a 737 type I just say: take yr 1 at sw and compare than take yr 2 at SW and compare if you still have a problem with me for getting my 73 type too bad MY CHECKING AND RETIRENMENT ACCOUNT WILL BE BIGGER THEN YOURS.;)

You're too much dude...

Not everyone who gets a type is looking at getting a job in the airlines.

Maybe Sporty's will turn your certificate with a 737 rating into a nifty gold-trimmed plaque you can hang on the wall in your bedroom!

Then you can tell everyone you were once a 737 captain!

...and I'm sure you played the game well in a little over 1800 hours according to your profile.

Same thing plenty of Delta pilots said while they were in their 20's in 1979... Crazy industry!

Again for the last time. I don't think SW is for everybody. But don't come on here complaining about paying for a type when you make 27,000 first year at cal and have no health insurance.. period end of argument.

bravodude,

Did you happen to work for American Eagle around Y2K?

You can PM me if you need to....
