ah yes, lets see what Parker has to say about furloughs. Publically, he has said no one will lose their job. His propaganda though, hedges its bets. Here is a quote from the USAir merger website.

"Furloughs and other Fallacies:
While it’s too early in the process to know specifics by employee group,
location, etc., we do know that a merger doesn’t have to mean involuntary furloughs of
line employees. In fact, we’ve publicly stated that we don’t anticipate line employee furloughs."

Too early to know specifics? Doesn't have to mean involuntary furloughs? Don't anticipate line employee furloughs?

Wow, I feel so much better!

Of course the merger won't cause furloughs. When the furloughs come, they will be blamed on (insert excuse here -- eg: unexpected slowdown in economy, unexpected increase in price of oil ...) _____________.

Brainhurts,

If I had to bet actual money, I think that is what's going to happen.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I think Delta-NWA trumps US Air Delta. Thats just me.

BH,

You may infact be on to something there. Two bankrupt carriers merge to form an even bigger bankrupt carrier. Two mgt teams that got them there in the first place come together as one. I guess two wrongs do make a right after all...

WD.

And if you saw what NW filed at their new plan, there is much to be desired. Kind of makes one question what it really up.....

Tell me again how many bankruptcies AWA and US have been through and how much government cheese did they both needed to keep flying?

BIG DIFFERENCE FDJ2 We're not in BK now nor were we in BK in when we got into this with AAA. DAL and NWA are both in BK NOW, both are are their as a result of their collective management teams yet you continue to support this structure.

Now this is not a case of my dad is bigger than your dad as your post would imply. This is about money my brother and the opportunity to pretty much rule the industry.

yeah, rule the industry for about five minutes. If USAir does pull off a merger with DAL, then right on their heels will be UAL/CAL and AA/NWA. Then all the sudden US/DL is the red headed stepchild who doesn't even have any significant pacific routes.

One step at a time bro one step at a time...

He's right. A US/DL merger will be seen as a strategic blunder. SWA, B6, AMR, and AirTran would make out like bandits. The debt that Parker would be heaping on alone would be crushing along with the superior networks that NW/AA and UA/CO would use to siphon away customers and revenue.

DL's best option is to hook up with NW or UA as standing alone seems unlikely to happen. Private equity would trip all over themselves to be in on such a deal. Wouldn't be surprising to see DL/NW pair off and then see CO make a move on US so they can control their future. This would leave 4 majors and SWA as UA and AA would not be able or want to get together .

I thought the discussions concerned merging after exiting BK. So in fact neither airline would be in BK at the time of the merger. So once again how many BKs did AAA and AWA go through young man?

Next question, why are you so desperate to merge with DAL? DAL and its employees obviously want nothing to do with you or Doug Parker. Who needs who?

Which would soon lead to another BK for the employees of DAL/AAA/AWA to endure.

Thanks for the compliment though I bet I am older than you! I am not desparate for the merger I just realize something you don't. I rather enjoy reading all of the post by you dime store analysts. Your arguments are lame and they are all the same, "the overlap the overlap" don't you think that they know that already??? The employees are along for the ride and most of (DAL) Is UNREPRESENTED so really who cares what they think??

Stick to moving a/c and let the the execs do what they do!!

Well its obvious AWA still does not require a college degree, and yeah right you're not "desparate" for the merger.

You're brand new to this forum so I am going to let your insults slide, THIS TIME!!! Now FYI, I wouldn't mind seeing it happen as I know mergers are the wave of the futures in this industry and those who act first often last.

Lets see your dime store approach ED, teach us all as I am sure that you to are some sort of weekend business analyst...

WD.

The press release stated that both parties were in talks. That must mean that NWA is at least interested enough to discuss it with DAL.
Fact is that this industry is ripe for mergers. Will they happen? Who knows, but if one does then there will be two more a few days later. None of it will be good in the short term for pilots. The long term will look a lot better. There will already be a shortage of pilots, the incomes of the merged carriers will go up, thus allowing the respective pilot groups demand their wages back. And around we will go.

Funny, you were on here not too long ago saying LCC's first offer was a shoe in.

You haven't been right on this yet.

The sound of desparation. We don't need/want this....Let's call it what it really is, a "hostile takeover."
The truth is, the new US/AWA brings nothing to the table except for some overlap east coast routes and a whopping 19 total widebody aircraft is a "lower payscale." Now I see why you folks at AWA want this so badly.
This is nothing more than a move for Parker to wipe out the competition because he knows once DL emerges from BK it will kick the preverbial ass of his airline!

Stick to moving a/c and let the the execs do what they do!!

The sound of desparation. WD, keep up the comedy, you're becoming nothing, if not predictable, and desparate!
I see you still didn't answer FDJ2's question, how many BKs did AAA and AWA go through?

737 Well put. That truly is the reason that Parker wants DAL. He knows that ones DL exits they are going to de very difficult to compete with.
