Good luck to you guys. The guys over here at Comair are really upset at the overall actions in recent weeks. My question to all pilots is about per diem. While this may seem so small in the larger picture, I just wanted to see how others felt. The per diem at Comair I believe is at 1.75/hr and under the new negotiating it will go to 1.55/hr. While at other carriers the per diem is 1.85/hr and up. Why is there no consensus per diem rate across the board? Does a Delta or United pilot need to eat more or better than any other pilot? We are all in the same boat, meaning life on the road at hotels and airports. It may be a silly question but I was just wondering.

SBD i agree with you....at ASA its 1.50 per hour....the only good thing if possible, is for taxes. If you pay a company or take time time to calcualte it yourself, you can deduct the difference in per diem that your company pays you vs. actual per diem for each overnight....i did it for 06 and it was almost a $3000 difference.

The company has the ungency to get this done. Let them stew in it for a while.
I will continue to sit there all day till the rampers find headsets that work for pushback. I'm sick of "I can hear you but I can't talk to you" the mic is broke. Seems like every zone has a pair like that and it keeps getting worse.

What is the problem with the stike? Why will they not release you guys? There is something your MEC is not telling you. No other carrier would go 4+ years and not be able to get released to stike. F'ing crazy how long it is taking!

I was almost starting to believe that, that is until I read the latest negotiations update.

Ha, we sat for 30 minutes a few weeks ago waiting for them to find a working headset after we finally got sick of broken headsets. When we complained on the radio after 15 minutes of waiting and threatened to deplane the answer was "We have procedures for use with an inop headset so you shouldn't be delaying the flight". Funny thing was, the next time we used those procedures the ramper misunderstood our signals to push tail north and pushed us tail south instead, blocking another flight that was cleared to push. Even a landing light in the face would not deter our man from pushing us tail south, he just shielded his eyes and kept right on going. Just another example of that ol' ASA dedication to safety at work, I guess.

It certainly was fun to hear my Captain give Scott Hall an earfull about it on the crew bus though.

Timing of all this is a bit suspicious.

Gee, how recently we were given a list of 50 CA upgrades, new 70-seaters, huge 150% opentime pot, and pleas for leads on newhire apps.

What's coming next?

-cancellation of upgrades

-cancellation of newhire classes

-loss of the "16 new 70-seaters."

You watch......

DING DING DING!!!

WHAT DO WE HAVE FOR HIM JOHNNY!?!?

What a great day to get a Wilson Poll call...

Most productive 17 minutes I have had all week.

Sorry you guys got royally hosed by the SKYW pilots voting in the latest pay deal. Now SGU doesn't want to give you what you're worth because you'd come out on top of the hometown crowd.
