Unfortunately there will be no bid for march. The last 3 pilots from the previous recall start class on Jan. 8th. The additional 40 recalls have tentative class dates of Jan 22nd, Feb 5th, and Feb 19th. Here is a letter from planning on Dec. 22nd1st:

Subject: March 2007 Permanent Bid

There will not be a Permanent Bid published for March 2007. The
February 2007 Permanent Bid will be carried over for March
2007.

Does this mean there will be no recalls for March?

Have the slots already been filled for the Bid 07-02(FEB)?

I think they got a little backed up. The last recalls will have class dates in Feb. I think we will see recalls in March, but they will be for an April effective date.

They are still working on filling the 07-02 bid. It may be a while before we know who actually accepted the positions....

Just spoke with Charmane and she said no recalls for march. Will not have to send out anymore letters to fill bid 07-02. Went down to seniority number 3570.

Hopefully this delay is due to training back-up and not due to the proposed merger and the anticipated large job cuts!

Seniority # 3873 starts the 99 hires.

Also to clarify on earlier post, sent out letter's of intent to 3570 and will not have to send anymore for bid 07-02 according to Charmane.

AWA just cut back to two Airbus instructors and told them not to expect any long course training(initials, or upgrades) for a year or so. Union spin is that this is due to the "merger" with Delta.

Beware, this is EXACTLY the same thing that happened when Wolf tried to buy UAL. Everything at AAA stopped and no one had another plan in case things fell through. It appears to my uneducated eyes that Parker is doing the same thing. Kind of hard to believe but airline management is airline management. They all screw up in the same ways.

Very good point ...

If the Delta merger goes thru, (Which I doubt, btw) they said there will be a reduction of 10%. This could result in a substantial furlough, again. (800+)

Very risky going back right now, unless one does not have another gig.

What a wonderfull plan considering they just had a misserable holiday for staffing. Don't know about the east but out west here we ran out of reserves, flights were canceled cause there were no crews to fly them, 98 pilots called in sick Christmas eve, and now this, they don't expect to bring any more people in??? WTF? This is quite a gamble Doug and Scott are starting to play, if they don't train more people for next summer and this Delta thing doesn't pan out, Holy Cow! we are going to be in a world of hurt.

What was their saying??

There is no plan B...

Yup then they came up with "PLAN B FROM OUTER SPACE".

I still chuckle when I remember that quote from the union. I'd laugh out loud if it hadn't been so tragic for our careers.

I doubt anyone in PHX is foolish enough to try and furlough US Airways employees while keeping Delta's hiring going.

Didn't they just recall 10 or 15 Ground Instructors from furlough? Class dates are filled 60 days in the future - makes sense not recall more people for now.

Attrition continues and those GI will take some time to get up to speed then accelerated recalls ..... IMO.

What's the most they were able to hire (per month) during the 1999 boom?

It is very unlikely the takeover will ever happen. Don't get too whipped up about it. The only person who believes it will happen is Parker. His credit has run out (no upping the bid.....), the DOJ would see the immense overlap, and Oberstar stated he doesn't know anyone in Congress that is for this deal. The creditor committee will vote DL's way too. Relax--very unlikely.

Bye Bye--General Lee
