Hey Jblue guys how hard is it to get domiciled in a sunny location? I heard there was no movement in LGB, what's going on in FLL? How long on reserve in each? Where do newhires go? How many more A-320's are you going to get?

slow movement in LGB, reserve ??? a year ? not sure. In FLL, hard to say as well, A friend held it within a month after training and said he sat 4-5 months reserve. Keep in mind that was this year, 2007? who knows

Well I have 8 months with the JB and i'm still waiting for FLL, BTW still not a line holder in JFK either.

Sunny domiciles

LGB, fairly senior. If not hired yet, you will never see it as 320 Captain. Ever.
For FO, you SHOULD be able to hold a reserve line in 4-9 months (ish). A real line, I would guess a year +.

FLL, almost as senior as LGB but not quite. Could luck up and get it outta training, but most likely it'll take you 2-4 (ish) months for reserve, add another 6 (ish) months or more for a line. Right now its longer, but it goes in waves. No 320 upgrade classes for Jan or Feb (that I know of) so that tends to push LGB and FLL farther out for new hires compared to when there are upgrade classes.

Both bases reserves don't fly that much compared to JFK and BOS, and even when you're a lineholder, there's not much in open time to swap for or to add, so consider the $$ impact versus the junior bases.

Also (and you probably already knew this) LGB and FLL are 320 bases only. All 190 positions are for JFK and BOS. Don't count on 190's going to LGB or FLL in the near or mid term future.

Sometimes its real sunny in JFK and BOS though. :)

um, okay

Is that kool-aid starting to get a bad taste?

We have kool-aid issues going on now to be sure, but waiting in seniority order for the base of your choice is hardly a culture related dissapointment to anyone like you seem to be implying. Nice try though. Really.

Domicile Breakdown?

Whatever you do, do NOT breakdown (in your car) near the JFK domicile. Ozone Park is a very INTERESTING place. Run!

Bye Bye--General Lee

I've been here for almost 9 months and I held FLL after 2 months in JFK. I have been on reserve since and have not moved a single spot. It looks like another 6 months to hold a line (maybe).

I have a crashpad in Ozone Park and don't think it's all that bad. Sure beats waiting for the Kew Runner or JetBlue shuttle everytime you head back to the pad.

Actually the Ozone Park/Howard Beach area off the AirTrain is very safe.
Most of the people that live around there are "Eyetalians".
I go for runs through Ozone Park all the time.
General the next time you are in Ozone Park-just leave the big red shoes, big red nose, and curly red hair wig at home and I am sure no one will bother you.

How long is the reserve call out and how many avg days off on reserve? I heard a while back rumors about a base in Columbus or something like that. Any new domiciles forecast? (One can hope)

12 days off on reserve. Next base will more than likely be orlando, but nobody knows when for sure.

I would think with slowed deliveries a new crew base could be quite a ways out. It's incredibly expensive to ramp up to a new base...not to mention that you need to pull crews and airframes from somewhere to do it.

True, we are in a slowdown but still growing at 14%.

I wish all my jetblue brothers would quit painting such a rosy picture over here. All is not well and you all know it.

Does that mean I can't include my per diem when I'm asked how much I make?
After all, the company includes overtime when discussing compensation.

A320drivr...

I was simply stating the facts. The point of bringing up the 14% is that from a growth viewpoint only, we are growing. We are running out of room in JFK and FLL and the only place left to grow is BOS or MCO. I am not saying that it would happen anytime soon but I could see MCO becoming a crew base by the end of 2007 if we have a good year.

Trust me LongHorn, I feel for you guys on the 190. I think you all got hosed. Please dont think I wasnt one of the ones that cried foul when the payrates on that thing were released (shoved down our throats). When mgmt. said "you will never have to fly it so why do you care" that said a lot to me about our mgmt. and the selfish pilots we have.

When you're stock is growing at 14% then call me. But it's performance has been pathetic. Even more so when you look at how it has performed after splits. It's continued it's decline.

The whole psychological point of stock splits (and they are nothing more than that) is to encourage continuted investment to pump up the price again...but not here....

As an investor I could give a $hit about your revenue growth unless you can give a return to go with it. As will any investors. You'll get beat up pretty good until such time as you start give some returns on a split-adjusted price!

It's never rosy in this industry, even in the best of times.

Where in this thread has anyone said it was rosy as JetBlue? It's not perfect, but it's not bad either.

We do have some issues, but doesn't every airline?

Please you could give the guy $300 an hour 20 days off a month, day trip turns, the same health coverage as the president and 6000 shares per month and he/she would still feel compelled to bash the company on flight info..

After all what kind of mentality do you actually have to have to post something like that on a public forum?

I agree with you JB is a great company.. Obviously the poster above has'nt seen that the grass isn't greener on the other side

Are you an investor or just a blow hard. That's what I thought.

Yes I know. We're all doomed...doomed...doomed.
