Getting more revenue out of a seat is great. But once again tell me how he turned them around. They NEVER MADE A PROFIT, the entire time he was there, all they did was continue to lose 100's of millions.

Alitalia was in such bad shape during his tenure 2003-2005 that KLM/Air france ran away from a proposed merger once they got a hold of Alatilia's books.

From what I have heard, and that is limited, he did a good job of stabilizing AZ. He obviously did something right for us to want to employee him here. He has done a great job here so far. You can speculate on that all you want, but we know it.

If this deal were to go through you would have how many A/C types?

777, 767, 757, 737 - 300/800, MD 88/90, A319, A320, A321

Gup

The fact is that the worlds most profitable airline also has many different types of aircraft. Multiple and varied fleet types are proven to be highly profitable.

Huh? AA has mostly Boeings, and a one other type--the MD80. Varried fleets are ok if the fit different city pairs. Some cities can't handle or don't have the loads for a 738 or 757. But the USAir and DL mix is ridiculous. Hardly anything in common at all. The only common plane is the 757, and USAir has Rolls engines while we have Pratts. They have 767-200ERs, we don't--we have 767-300s, 767-300ERs, and 767-400ERs. They have A330s for their ultra long haul, and we have 777s. They have 737-300s and 737-400s, and we have 738s and MD88/90s. And now they are getting E190s. Not even close. I can understand have a few different types (usually made by the same plane maker) for different loads, but the potential fleet mix is ridiculous. CAL has 737s in different shapes--smaller 735s for short haul, some 733s for fill, and then newer 737NGs all the way up to 739s. That is how you should do it. A USAir and DL mix would be a disaster.

General,

I think the world's most profitable airline 80for80 is referring to is UPS.

"Hauenstein turned Alitalia around. He did the same for CAL after their BKs"

Alitaila is pathetic, that's why I jumped on you. No on has been able to to turn them around, they are by far the worst run major in Europe. IAs an airline manager you can't have a worse name on your resume.

With that being said, maybe Hauenstein took the job think he could make a difference and then realized he couldn't. So be it, at least he was smart enough to bail out, but being the first to bail from Alitalia is like being the first to bail off the Titanic.

FYI according to his DAL bio, Hauenstein is 45 and joined CAL in 1987. FYI, CAL's first trip in CH11 was in 1985 and they emerged in 1986, So did not have a part in both of CAL "BK's"

Their second BK was in 1990 and their survival had a lot more to do with Bonderman's Texas pacific groups bail out and Bethune then Hauenstein did. According to CAL's EDGAR filings;
This is Hauensteins resume:
Senior Vice President - Network since March 2003.
Senior Vice President - Scheduling (February 2001-March 2003);
Vice President Scheduling (January 1998-February 2001).

By the time he had been appointed to any real leadership position it was 1998, CAL's turnaround had long been underway. I am sure he's a nice guy but you need to do a little more research before you make statements like the one you made above. He never turned around Alatila and he had little to do with CAL's turns around.

Getting back to the point, I don't see this merger happening and I don't think Parker wants it either. All he wants to do is hold off any other mergers until DAL gets out of CH11. By then DAL will not be as attractive a merger partner for UAL or Parker will have run the price up so high that Goldman Sach's tells UAL to run away.

Brilliant, just brilliant. Tell us more! Which numbers should I pick in tomorrows lottery?

Wow, you sure do know a lot about this guy. Can you tell me the good things he has done at DL so far? Maybe I have missed some.

Was he hired before filing ch11?

Define pathietic? Spell totaly?

You are pathetic and I should totally learn not to type while mama has me babysitting the 1 year old and the 3 year old.

My bad, your arrogance

General votes "NO" to a merger, which means its gonna be a "YES". All comes around in the end.

Like I said, Totally Pathetic. I rest my case, you just got put on the ignore list.

Here is an idea. Go spend time with your wife and kids and get off the computer! I hope I can sleep tonight knowing I am on your ignore list:(
