You obviously do not know the definition of "bailout". USAirways needs Delta, not the other way around. They have nothing that Delta does not already have and do not say 8 billion. The banks have that, not USAirways.

Serious ? You honestly think Delta has no future without USAirways? You have to be kidding. Delta has everything they have and in addition, a strong international presence. Excluding reorganization costs, Delta is making money. You are delusional! Lets make sure we are on the same page. Are you referring to the USAirways that has been in bankruptcy twice in recent years or another USAirways? Again, USAirways needs Delta or another global carrier to survive long term.

Yes DAL is in BK, but DAL is also on the road to exit in far less time then the 3 bankruptcies AWA and US share. Remember, DAL doesn't want anything to do with LCC, LCC on the other hand wants to merge with DAL in a bad way. So bad they are willing to borrow nearly $8B to force a merger with an unwilling partner.

I like Delta but they are in a money bad situation plain and simple. Creditors rule when you are bankrupt. Now granted they get until Feb to come up with a plan but seriously do you think you are going to come up with a plan that will give the creditors what his deal will???? Good luck!!! If I were you I would plan on that hostile take over like it or not it's a reality...

The creditors rule this unless Delta can come up with an 8 billion plan. Now the stock holders in that company will have a mouthful to say don't you think?? It all about the money boys and girls...

At least a lone Delta has some culture and a good name that people identify as a good company. A DAL-AWA-USAIR merger creates a great sized company with little culture. LCC needs Delta. If LCC was such a great company with a great name, why would they change their name to DELTA?
The AWA-USAIR merger seems like a good deal for stockholders as the stock has done great. Only time will tell if the merger was a good business plan as they still have a lot of integration to do.

No, the stock holders will have nothing to say about it. Current DAL stock will have a value of $0 when all is said and done.

Well all DAL has to do is borrow $8B to match that plan, but then again maybe that's Parkers plan to begin with. I disagree that the creditors are all that matter, they're significant players, but not the only players in this game.

One additional small problem is that the 8 Billion borrowed dollars get added to the debt side of the new company's ledger. The people who are at Delta now end up with more debt and nothing really gained except endless years of headaches. AWA/US on the other hand gets the gold ring along with the almost 4 Billion cash on hand at Delta for their 8 Billion.

You're confusing "stock holders" with creditors. Stock holders have no voice, DAL stock is heading to $0 and all their stock will be liquidated. The creditors committee on the other hand does have a say, as do the regulators, BOD, management and the Judge.
What perhaps you are also failing to consider is that the creditors are not being offered $8B in cash. Oh no no no, they are being offered cash and stock. What's that stock going to be worth? What relationship will this new enterprise have with the creditors? Will merging DAL with LCC, which hasn't even completed its merger between AWA and AAA yet, be as profitable as allowing DAL to go it alone? Will sadling this new enterprise with $8B in debt make it more likely or less likely to return an investment on whichever stock is issued. What about labor unrest? LCC is in the midst of union negotiations for a single contract, would bringing in 6,500 more pilots and opening up that contract for negotiations lead to greater stability and returns, or add another unknown to the equation. Does extending DAL's BK in order to get through the regulatory hurdles as well as the legal costs make sense? How does all of this affect claim values, stock values and future contracts?
As far as your liquidator comment, well that's just not a serious comment and you should know that. After all, why would Parker leverage so much in order to come up with an offer for DAL if DAL was heading anywhere towards a liquidator?
I give this merger about a 1 chance in four of happening and far longer odds at actually creating anything near the returns and synergies Parker claims if it does.

I was AAA then Furloughed. Went to AWA a few years later. Now we merged with the company I am furloughed from. Yea that makes great conversation at times. What the heck why not change the name to Delta.
So if it does happen I look forward to flying with the Delta side.
