Ohhhh I know the answer to that one!!! We have something Delta doesn't. A future!!!!

Ok I am done with this, it was supposed to be a joke but some are getting serious not.

Serious ? You honestly think Delta has no future without USAirways? You have to be kidding. Delta has everything they have and in addition, a strong international presence. Excluding reorganization costs, Delta is making money. You are delusional! Lets make sure we are on the same page. Are you referring to the USAirways that has been in bankruptcy twice in recent years or another USAirways? Again, USAirways needs Delta or another global carrier to survive long term.

And how many years has AWA and US spent in BK before you got that "future"?

Yes DAL is in BK, but DAL is also on the road to exit in far less time then the 3 bankruptcies AWA and US share. Remember, DAL doesn't want anything to do with LCC, LCC on the other hand wants to merge with DAL in a bad way. So bad they are willing to borrow nearly $8B to force a merger with an unwilling partner.

Hey bro!!

I like Delta but they are in a money bad situation plain and simple. Creditors rule when you are bankrupt. Now granted they get until Feb to come up with a plan but seriously do you think you are going to come up with a plan that will give the creditors what his deal will???? Good luck!!! If I were you I would plan on that hostile take over like it or not it's a reality...

Now don't hate on me, if you don't like security and exchange change the rules. Now I say again we are BORG:smash:

This ain't about mine is bigger than yours as you post would imply. It's about business and we the pilots are only players in this game. 8 billion and a 40% plus return on their risk. The creditors rule this unless Delta can come up with an 8 billion plan. Now the stock holders in that company will have a mouthful to say don't you think?? It all about the money boys and girls...

At least a lone Delta has some culture and a good name that people identify as a good company. A DAL-AWA-USAIR merger creates a great sized company with little culture. LCC needs Delta. If LCC was such a great company with a great name, why would they change their name to DELTA?

The AWA-USAIR merger seems like a good deal for stockholders as the stock has done great. Only time will tell if the merger was a good business plan as they still have a lot of integration to do.

Oh, I must have misunderstood your statement,"We have something Delta doesn't. A future!!!! I'm sorry I understood that to be a "mine is bigger than yours" comment. Obviously it wasn't.

Well all DAL has to do is borrow $8B to match that plan, but then again maybe that's Parkers plan to begin with. I disagree that the creditors are all that matter, they're significant players, but not the only players in this game.

Now the stock holders in that company will have a mouthful to say don't you think??

No, the stock holders will have nothing to say about it. Current DAL stock will have a value of $0 when all is said and done.

That was because of your comment of " we have something that they don't"
No harm no foul if your intent was not to be nasty.

Ohh good luck borrowing that kind of capital then again if Delta could have done that then they would be in bankruptcy now would they???

Now the stock holders in that company will have a mouthful to say don't you think??

Ahha there you have said a mouthful!! You see the creditors see that as well as stock holders so don''t you think that they will do all they can to protect their interest?? What do you expect the trustee of this bankruptcy will say?? Go it alone Delta and maybe you can get the money or maybe not 8 billion to a bankrupt airline?? Yeah you can get it from a liquidator...

WD.

One additional small problem is that the 8 Billion borrowed dollars get added to the debt side of the new company's ledger. The people who are at Delta now end up with more debt and nothing really gained except endless years of headaches. AWA/US on the other hand gets the gold ring along with the almost 4 Billion cash on hand at Delta for their 8 Billion.

Come on this was supposed to be a fun thread. If you want to slam the merger, post with General Lee.

I'm with Whiskey Driver (dangit!). Everyone take a deep breath. None of us have any say whether this thing goes though or not so... sit back, open a beer or two and lets all be friendly when we see each other.

Peace-out my aviator brothers; some day we'll look back on this and some will laugh, some will cry but all of us will have wished Doug Parker had stayed at Northwest Airlines where he could have done some real good with a great business model.

I picture him in 20 years in Arkham, in a cell between the Joker and the Penguin, wearing a straight jacket screaming: "Synergies, look at all the synergies!"

Boy just think..... If this thing goes through we will have a carrier with a population that includes, Rustheads, Beachboys, Bubbas, Snake Wranglers, and Sky Nazi's!!

Holy Cow!!! Talk about the amount of good jokes that we can come up with that mix!

In ground school a newhire will be issued a pair of flip-flops, Cowboy hat, a sack of Beechnut or tin of Skoal(their preference), Snow tires for their rollaboard, and taught how to goosestep!!!!

The checklists will involve responses like "Ya'll", "Blowme", "Party on Dude", and "Heil"!!! :)
