Anyone have a rough guess as to how long before they are all gone? 4-5 years?

Thanks,

My best guess is around 2 years. They really don't want us flying the 50's at all anylonger, since they are getting better return on our 70's and 90's.

I heard from a good source that SAPA has been negotiating the possibility of bringing an airbus online so long as we temporarily keep our 50 rates for it!

THIS ROCKS!!

Even if this is a joke, the mere mention of it scares me..........

I am all for bigger airframes at skywest. Career progression without the hassle of interviewing somewhere else.

Airplane progression is not career progression.

Sure it is. Just because an airplane is at mainline doesn't mean its more profitable. Lets face it mainline has agreed to fly 90+ seat airplanes at or maybe even a bit less than we do at skywest. Why not get bigger planes at bigger rates. Mainline just isn't what it used to be. We might as well get bigger aircraft here. I sure don't feel like interviewing and starting all over somewhere else to take a paycut for a few years. This is 2006 not 2000, mainline is not the holy land it once was.

sure hope that's a joke-if so I find it humorous

No it is not a joke. The word is that we just need to get past the current hump. Once we lock in a profitable plan for the airbus, we will be able to re-negotiate our entire payscale.

The idea is that we'll have top end that falls in line with current major 737/A320 rates with the lower end slightly above current rates.

Again, the only thing that stinks is that we'll have to keep our current rates. But I vote yes. If we get it on the property we'll be golden.

The only negative aspect is that mgmt has refused to renegotiate the 90 and 70 seat rate, so why should we trust them this time?? Well I think it's worth it. Bring on the Heavies!!

Nope. Keep them at mainline so we might have REAL jobs someday...

Just a little FYI on all of those "bigger RJ's are better" theory's.

Just got off of a full 737 NG flight...141 in the back, 16 up front in first. Fuel burn was 600lbs per side per hour more than an RJ 70 at 410. Sorry, but I'm not a math genius, BUT for about roughly $235/hr/side more, you can carry more than 100% more people, muuuuuuuuch longer distances to muuuuuuch higher yield markets.

Think about it

Mookie,

You don't know what you're talking about. You're just one of those selfish major airline pilots.

We should all bow down to the 1000-hour CFIs who want to fly Airbuses for 50-seat CRJ rates that were set back in 2001.

;)

SkyWest will fly the Bro's as long as United keeps paying us to fly that aircraft. Same goes for the CRJ.

The Brasilia will never die...Chicks Dig Beta...Chicks Can't Live Without Beta.....there are more chicks than guys.......Chicks and Beta = Peas and Carrots....that is all . :pimp:

When Skywest retires the last CRJ, the crew will deadhead home on a Brasilia.

I had a buddy that attended the Embraer EMB-120 operators conference in FLL last week. Embraer told him that every single EMB-120 that is parked/in storage in the US (yes even the $hitty ASA ones' in Hot Springs) are spoken for and will all be put back on flying status although they did also say that there were a few in St. Geroge that were going to be parted out. I found that interesting.

I doubt that SkyWest is gonna dump the EMB-120's any time soon. Not at 1000 lbs./hour fuel burn and 30 pax...not with gas prices they way they are today and for the foreseeable future.

Cheers! (I agree...long live the Bro)

 It's ok baze....I'm sorry you have to fly one of those CRJ 1200's.
Just remember to flare like hell!!!

I'll see you in two months, bro.

Mookie

and Indian boy...chicks don't dig beta...sorry

Squawk 7500, thread hijack in progress:

I was told that you guys have exclusively the -150A APU, and as it doesn't have some of the auto shutdown features you can only run the APU when the aircraft is attended. Is that really the case?

Further, do y'all make the FO's do everything? Start engines, etc?

Who gives a ******************** how many amps the APU puts out? And yes, someone is in attendance when it's running.

As far as the FO's doing everything, no they do their share. Engines are started at the gate by the captain. Other than that, what are you talking about?

Aircraft has to be attended with APU running. APU is 400A. FO's don't do everything, just the dirty or uncomfortable tasks. :D
