Some people don't believe in Jesus, I would say that too would be the belief of the airlines so they could screw us even more.

Other management groups are devout Catholics too. I am not sure if that background plays into their thinking when they determine employee salary/work rules.

I guess in their defense, religion doesn't belong in the workplace. especially when determining workers compensation.

Anybody got the # for In-n-out? $100000/year for a store mgr!

This will become the "new" Home Depot or McD's .

Why do this (fly planes) when I can go work at In-N-Out?

Does this guy believe in molesting children and then moving the perpetrator to another parish to do the same elsewhere?? What a good catholic he is!! The guy should stick to running an airline and out of people's personal lives. Sent a note to employees on abortion?! What a schmuck.

Mr. I.

unfortunately for us, it is just a business with the laws of business. our wages are determined by what we are willing to work for...as a group that is. So if there are enough billybobs out there who will work for 23/hour to fill the positions then that will be the rate. even if it is poverty wages.

the best thing we can do as pilots is spread the word to everyone in media that this career sucks. then that will steer the next generation away and cause a pilot shortage. then we will see an increase in wages.

Did anybody go see the movie Borat? When he fell asleep in front of that crazy "snake handling" charasmatic church, how many people stopped to help him on their way in Sunday morning? None. They stepped right over him, on their way to do "God's work". I know that movie was really funny, but it spoke huge about the human condition. When do you think people in this country will figure out that our true religion is money and we worship at the church of ATM? ( my apologies to Chris Rock) If Jesus was walking the earth today, I would bet he wouldn't set foot in 99% of the churches. He would be hanging with the homeless, addicted and poor. Don't expect any religious person to part with their true god, money. Christianity here is nothing more than a business that creates wealth for a few and disappointment for the majority....Wait, that sounds just like airline management.

California fast-food chain In-N-Out Burger for years has printed Bible verses, such as John 3:16, on cups and wrappers. It also pays new workers at least $9.50 an hour, far above the fast-food norm. Store managers average just under $100,000 a year.

Aaah, In-N-Out Burger......Worth the 5 hour plane ride just to get one of those.

That is hilarious, yet really not funny at all. But In mass on sunday the priest talked about our lack of giving to poor because we feel we can't afford it. two statistics really stuck with me.

1. 13 billion dollars a year is what it would take to feed all the hungry. Us and Europe spend 17 billion a year on pet food.

2. 6 billion dollars a year is what it would take to provide drinkable water to all those who don't have it now. The us spends 7 billion a year on alcohol.

crazy

If my understanding is correct, Jesus would not actually pay (give you) money; he would teach you how to print your own.

true..but i would say he is the reason why any of us would have an airline job...

Negative, Ghost Rider. The reason I have an airline job is because I'm lazy and I've got a thing for grumpy overweight middle-aged women.

1. If we spend $13 billion a year to feed all of the hungry, we would soon find ourselves with a hungry population which is 10X what it is today. It's Rush's "Free will." Those Catholic statistics are pretty pointless and guilt laden. "So Father, should I be ashamed of myself for having a family pet when there's even a single hungry person in the world?"
2. I will no longer have my Scotch on the rocks. You can have my ice.

how do you figure that?

Bedford said he sees no gray area in Republic being honest and ethical. "Enron is wrong," he said.

Glad to see he sets the bar high. Did anyone else raise an eyebrow when they read this statement?

"With all due respect Rev. Bedford, our raises are not meeting the increased cost of living, plus medical costs are through the roof. If you don't increase my pay, I won't be able to continue tithing to my church. Maybe you could toss a couple dozen of your stock options my way, then I could continue providing for my family while financially supporting the Lord's word. Grace and peace to you and your ever-increasing house of Carmel, sir."

Let's see here....a CP who routinely tells people to send in their manuals before even listening to their side of a story, a company who opens and closes bases (and makes a mess of people's lives in doing so) all the time, crew scheduling (need not say more on that one), crap pay, the whole J4J mess...screwing both it's own pilots and the Airways guys....I could go on all day. Is this how you treat people "made in God's image?" Apparently at RAH you do. I spent plenty of time there....some great pilots to work with...and management does grow the place like a weed. The problem is that Bedford does not even come close to walking his talk. Talk to the poor guys who have to negotiate with him. Apparently he is the king of compartmentalizing. The righteous man lives in one world, and the business man lives in another. Talk one on one to him....you might find him a tad pompous maybe? Maybe it's him, maybe it's the industry's impact on him, who knows. Either way, it's pretty screwed up.
