Can anyone tell me what the specifics of this new RFP is? (like did they say it was 50, or 70 or more seats and/or what the new growth airframes are going to be?)

The main reason i ask is because Jerry Atkin specifically said last week that ASA did not bid on the RFP for 70 seats or greater because "our cost structure is too high", he didnt say if ASA bid at all on any 50 seat flying, so if the RFP didnt include any smaller airframes, he basically just told us zero growth for ASA.

Are you giddy to take Comair's flying. Growing at their expence isn't a good thing, no matter how you look at it.

Here's what we (AWAC) were told that we bid on:

25 70-seat turboprops
50 50-seat RJ's
43 70-seat RJ's
50 76-seat RJ's

That said, we were just told that our bid was uncompetitive, and that we are no longer part of the bidding process...

But there it is...that's what's out there.

.... We at awac were not competitive for this flying... thats suprising.

uh, no,. where did i say that? Im more interested about the GROWTH aircraft, not existing flying.

whoever wins it now, will lose it to someone else in a few years anyway.

I wouldn't either on principle alone. It sucks having to bid for your own flying!

Comair is not the only one that had to play this game; Air Wisconsin, ACA, and Pinnacle had to too... it sucks... but not bidding would certainly not be a good option.

True...but still feels like your 15 and your moms comes to you and say I have a better financial offer on renting your room out. Can you match or beat? WTF!

Here's a news flash.... These RFP's are bogus. The companies put them out to get everyone fired up. But in reality, the company has already decided who they want to do the flying. They tailor the requirements to meet ONE carrier. Like a lot of things in this industry it's a complete sham.

Very true! Take note of Chatauqa opening up a CVG base before the RFP is annoucened. Now do you think they would do that not knowing the fate of their DL flying.

Comair put a bid in. Which is crazy. Let's bid for our flying. Bornhorst sent a memo a little while ago saying that while we put in a bid it was not competitive enough because they wanted more concessions from all three groups.

Only their 170 flying was up for rebid. Nothing to read into that, really.

And you actually believed a company memo? You must not have been here very long.

Last time I looked it said DELTA on the side of those aircraft.

BINGO!

All the flying belongs to the boys and girls at Big D. Like it or not, that is the reality. The legacy carriers finally realized that fee for departure was no longer necessary as the market swelled with "regional" lift providers. ALPA National has failed to deal with the commoditized regional market and continues to do so. Therefore, we all get to reap the whirlwind. Hope you got the economy sized KY.

The really sad thing is that they are proving that pilots are nothing but a bunch of whore's!! Pretty Sad!

WELLLLL!! If JERRY said it...it MUST be true....

I mean, he wouldn't say something just for the purpose of swaying the pilots opinion...or just to create uncertainty or fear...all of which cause division in the union...he especially wouldn't do that right as we begin to approach the end game in the negotiations...

STOP BUYING WHAT THEY TELL YOU....it may be true...or it may not be true..we don't know and WON'T know until the contract is finished...

I don't like Jerry Atkin, but what he has said in the crew lounge has come to pass. He has the power to make it happen.

Yep, it is true.

Hence the transfer from ASA to SkyWest after ASA had approval from the FAA to operate it.

RFP is simply an orchestrated campaign by the RAA to pressure lower costs by using fear. It will be interesting to see if the flying is ever awarded.
