I don't know a thing about how certification stuff works, but I had the same assumption that many of you guys did. It's nice to upgrade the avionics, so why not go all the way and go with an EICAS system. The answer that he gave was cost and certification. He seemed to know what he was talking about, but who knows.
 
Doesn't the -40 mod for the Falcon 50 by Garrett put EICAS on board? I believe it does. That entire mod (if you do the whole thing) turns a straight 50 into a 50EX. That did not require a total recert. As a matter of fact, that entire Garrett mod is a SB!!

I'll answer my own question "what will Learjet do" with a big... NOTHING
The LR 69 next year? Looks as though they are being a bit conservative right now. They did introduce the 300, Global, and 45 within 3 years in the late 90s-all clean sheet designs and BIG sellers as the best performers in each class.

Hmmmm. Of that list, none of them is the best performer in it's class. That is, of course if you're using speed, range, and altitude as your indicators of performance.
