The last one leaves tomorrow morning about 10 am. One of my students is a former tomcat RIO. He invited me to go watch. Sad day indeed.

The final F-14 flight is Friday at 10AM at NAS Oceana. I am fortunate enough to be able to attend the Tomcat Sunset Ceremony this weekend. So far all of the events have been great. It's very cool to be in the company of so many true warriors.

unless I mistaked them for 2 f-18's. Looked too big to be F-18's from what I remember, but then again it was the first leg outbound after a Key West overnight.

Definetly sad to see them go, it would be nice if the Navy could have a F14 demo team. I would love to see them fly again! If only I were "Bill Gates rich."

Flight test organizations often use "retired" airplanes. I saw F-86s at Pt. Mugu; an F-8, SR-71, & F-104s at NASA/Dryden, all long after they had gone out of service elsewhere in DOD.

I knew that but specifically being the case with the F-14 I'm not sure. Really sad to see such an awesum and still combat viable platform retired due to only budget constraints.

I laughed my a$$ off for a few minutes when I saw this but after I calmed down I threw up alittle in my mouth. Someone should buy one and send it to the Daily Show and see what they do with it.
