For me:

1) King Air 350. I prefer the 300 but the EFIS and newness of the 350 overides the hotrod performance of the short fuselage.

2) Boeing 747 or the A340? (that's the 4 engine one right?)

3) Definitely the F-14 Tomcat. The P-51 has always wooed me too.

What's the fascination with the Twin Otter? I don't get it, I must be doing something wrong. Awesome shortfield plane yeah, but it flies like a truck, at least with the -20 engines. I've never had a chance to fly the Super-Otter!

Hi Guys and Gals,
Here goes with my list (not in any particular order or precedence):

1. Cessna 152: First airplane I ever flew
2. Cessna 172: Airplane that I solo'd in
3. Kaman SH-2F: Two deployments and 1600 hours as a Sensor operator and aircraft that qualified me as a Naval Aircrewman
4. Boeing 727: The DC-3 of my era, graceful and beautiful.
5. Consolidated B-24: My Dad flew 25 missions in WWII in the Pacific theater in this airplane.
6. Grumman SA-16: My Dad's mount in Korea War. His personal favorite.
7. Douglas DC-3: Spent some of my youth servicing and loading them, sister flew as a flight attendant.
8. Convair 580: Nothing but raw horsepower, a pilot's airplane
9. Convair F-106: THE ultimate manned interceptor, looked like it was going Mach 2 sitting on the ramp
10. Sikorsky SH-60/HH-60, another 2500 hours and 4 deployments. Your's truly has the dubious distinction of being in the crew of the first SH-60F Class A mishap

Now is the "Super-Otter" known as the "Swotter" as opposed to the regular Twin Otter being known as the "Twotter"?

You airline guys: you know how all companies have aircraft within their fleets that have less-than-wonderful reputations? Maybe ship 251 has chronic autopliot queertrons, or maybe ship 820's radar can be erratic.

Do you suppose NASA has this problem too? Do astronauts ever say things like, "aw, not Discovery again!"
