Age Exemption

Is it true that you can get and Age Exemption on you ATP from the FAA, I have a friend that says he got his before 23.

Also, are the people that are at the Regionals at 18/19 doing PFT (Pay For Training), and what about the Degree?

got hired at 21 no facial hair, no degree, no prior 121 or 135 experience, now i will be here for life.... So 38+ years of senority will allow me to hopefully be the number one F/O in base by the time i retire.

One more thing AlaskaAirlines, how are you going to get hired next year at age 19 with so little flight time when their are people on the street with 10,000 hours which includes some space shuttle time? If you do have a place to fly let all of us know please so we can send resumes over

I got hired in Dec 2002 by Pinnacle with 600TT and 300ME on my 19th birthday.

Yes, I was from Gulfstream

Hey guys!

Well to those who wonder, I work for a regional airline in ANC. They hire pilots from within the company, and that is guys like myself, with the basic FAA mins. Infact there is a class of 6 going on as we speak, I most likely would have gotten on now if I had my Comm and multi done, but I should have all my ratings done in the summer. If you want to get on flying, then you need to find a job thats "within", then you can interview for pilots position when they open up.
So if everything works out the way I have planned, then I should be on with them at the age of 19.
One thing, how can you get on with a regional like Pinnacle at an age of 18-19?

Cheers!

Actually, you can do the checkride at any time before you reach 23, but you don't actually get the certificate... you get a nice letter from the Fed or DE that did your checkride stating that the ride has been satisfactorily completed, or something like that, and upon turning 23, take the letter to a FSDO and they write your new ATP ticket.

My brother and I took our rides at 22 yrs, then on our 23rd birthday (twins) we walked into the Lincoln, NB FSDO and said "can we have our ATPs please?" Picture Flounder asking for 10,000 marbles.... you know, Animal House?? We kinda freaked 'em out with that, just a little bit.

FL000...

.....who let the fukking dogs out?!~?!

WOOF!!!

Chick in my class -- 20yrs old, 500TT, PFT.

I'm pretty sure the FAA changed the rule about taking your ATP practical before you're 23. I talked to a Fed who works on our certificate and she basically said that you can get your ATP before you turn 23, but you have to get a Fed to personally vouch for you to get an exemption. I don't think there are a lot of fed earger to do that.

P.S.

When I got hired in 2000 at the age of 19 and I posted that fact on here, I was totally flamed. I guess times have changed.

In all seriousness, I was hired at 21 into a 19 seat turboprop, and just upgraded last december at 23 to JS-32 captain.
