Just got the email with possible interview dates and asking for the updated resume. Weird thing is one of them is next wednesday and have not heard back from Angela. Its been two days since the email. Any XJT guys know about that part of the process?

No! Noone knows anything. Everything is up in the air. Find somewhere else to go. Thats what I would do.

You're right no one knows what is going on. Even if you come to training, get on line for a few months and then are furloughed, you are much more marketable then just the average CFI off the street.

Since no one knows what is going on, that means it could go either way. There is no point in getting worked up about anything untill they make an announcement in Sept.

Exactly...very good post. XJT has always hired furloughees from other carriers and I expect other airlines to do the same for XJT furloughees. That said, I don't see XJT furloughing any time soon to be perfectly honest.

Hey hypoxik

Hypoxik,

I went through the same process that you did and got the final invite a little over a week before my requested interview date. It took them just a few days to reply.

The writing is on the wall.....Stay far away from any airline that is loosing almost 70 airplanes. Guys are either living in the land of oz or are just dumb if they accept a job there. It is a complete waste of time, energy, and hard work.

Good talk see you out there!
Im in the mood to see the Great State of Texas this May!

Only two options May 3rd and May 30th.

Maybe not. We're seeing a lot of movement in the ranks right now. Both Captains & F/O's are leaving for other opportunities. It seems like they aren't hiring enough right now to cover what's coming (block hour wise). I'm guessing this summer will see lots of junior manning and rolling of days off.

You mean "losing" right? That said, CAL is removing 69 XJT planes from its network but that doesn't mean that XJT won't redeploy those airplanes elsewhere. If you were a CFI with nothing except an XJT offer, why stay as an instructor? Much better to get some 121 time and training...but hey, that's just me. Then again, I also don't think XJT will furlough 1 single pilot.

I don't work there, but the optimist in me sure as hell hopes you're right.

XJT has always been a class act and always willing to give my ass a ride.

Well hopefully, I hear from HR tomorrow or the next day. I really would like the May 3rd interview.

Hey Neal-

Are you saying that XJT will continue to hire through the summer and not furlough any pilots through next winter? If that is so, I imagine the seniority list will be pretty still and the company will no longer grow, right?

The company will be staffed as of this summer. Does that mean no more hiring ever again at XJET? NO, with attrition and movement the list will continue to move. We have not only capt going over to CAL but also FOs. Not to mention people leaving for the other majors and fractionals that are hiring. I dont see any furloughs coming especially if we score some additional flying ops the company keeps talking about. This could be a great time to start here or it might not be, yall should know better than to look to far into the future with this industry!! Carry on

Looks like the last a/c on order will arrive in June. I am thinking good news will come by September and growth will continue at XJT.

Sorry about the mispelling.......wait a minute, no I'm not......this is a FORUM! Last time I checked I wasn't taking an online course is spelling. Anyways, my point on your reply is: Ignorance is Bliss.

Ignorance is Bliss.

The funny thing is the only ignorance being displayed in this thread is that of your own. If you took the time to figure out who "BluDevAv8r" really is you might see that he is probably the MOST credible source within our pilot group regarding the outlook for XJT...he's rather "involved" shall we say perhaps I'll leave it at that. But never mind you probably don't even care.

First of all, the fact that XJT is only running classes until July is hardly a surprsise. They've said for over a year, closer to two actually, that hiring would be discontinued sometime during spring 2006. In fact they've been hiring for longer than they anticipated due to more than expected attrition to CAL. Secondly, I really don't see XJT furloughing many if any in the near future. For one thing, our line devisor is especially high right now so many potential furloughs could be saved merely by lowering the devisor and a large number of pilots that will probably still go to CAL and other places...they did it in the past to save furloughs which would lead someone to believe that they will do it again if need be...and that's IF we lose any aircraft. Not saying if can't or won't happen but we'll just have to see. I agree with BluDevAv8r that if you are a CFI looking for a leg up why not take the experience and run with even if it's short term if getting to the regionals is your goal.

Call me a kool aid drinker if you like, even though I hardly am. Sure I have my doubts concerning the future who wouldn't? But I just love hearing speculation from those who really don't understand the situation. I do believe this company has potential probably in many areas many on this board haven't even thought of. Why wouldn't everyone out there like to see XJT succeed given the fact that we have one of the best if not the best 50 seat contracts in the business.

Sorry...there was a thread on the XJT pilot forum about "loose" versus "lose" so I figured some guys would pick up the inside joke. As to my ignorance...if you say so. The fact still remains...if I am airline B, I'd still rather furloughed pilot Bill from airline A rather than CFI Bill.

But if you want to make a bet as to the likelihood of XJT furloughs, why don't we each put money into a paypal account and then the winner can take his money out and the loser keeps his in...and it will then go to the charity of the winner's choosing. Game?

Ya, I just want to go to Houston next week...thats it not asking much. Curious though, on the reply email with the XJT HR questions, would a couple busted rides back in flight training matter?

Sure...as long as the charity can be the "Poor Mesaba Pilots Furloughed Charity".
