Express is the best choice in terms of all regional airlines... I don't know much about PSA.

not true...there's definitely differences in QOL.

i'm with express....

depends on whether you'll be based at hub or not. if you're
close to hubs...life is not bad. commuting is the same
anywhere..bad.

right now reserves are running 3-4 months. but once you
start getting a line - you can work as much or almost as
little as you want.

we can advertise our trips etc...which really helps if you
don't want to fly a particular pairing etc.

we have a good contract...the future looks ok...
so there you go.

Make no mistake.........

PSA....... Don't even think about it. Run and run as fast as you can. I have been here too long and it is only getting worse by the month. PSA is hiring only to replace the pilots they cannot keep. Upgrade is 4 and a half years. The only thing keep the majority of the pilots (and F/A's) here is the hopes that when Airways management gets a wiff of this place they will make some major changes. Ask anyone who has been here long enough, it's getting worse and there is no advantage to being wholly-owned.

Upgrades at PSA??? Where do I sign Up? QOL what is this QOL everyone keeps talking about. It sounds like a good thing we need it at PSA!

PSA sucks so bad that if I had to do all over again I would have gone to Mesa first. Dont even for 1 second consider coming here. Its terrible and you'll hate it. Nothing will change here even when Doug Parker finds out becuase he simply couldnt care less.

hiring

saw it advertised PSA, is hiring between 50 and 100 this year, are that many people leaving? QOL here pretty poor along with morale

Okay thanks for the info, I live in Dayton so PSA would have been a good match, but if its that bad there I guess I'll be commuting to CLE!!

if you live in dayton go to psa for god sakes. you think xjet is going to be that much better . a regional is a regional, and its not that horrible here.

Pay is better at ExpressJet and the upgrade is probably about half of that at PSA. I'm pretty sure the schedules are probably better with more days off and reserve is shorter (up to a year of RSV here at PSA.) I'm guessing ExpressJet will keep their EWR, CLE, and IAH bases while PSA might move bases a little more frequently as mainline moves us around to fit their plans.

That being said, you can't beat living in base, especially if you already live there before you start your job.

comparison,

Reserve Length @ PSA in DAY will be a long, long time.
Reserve Length @ XJET in CLE will be a long, long time if you can even get to CLE, you will be commuting to IAH or EWR more likely. CLE is shrinking.

Pay is much better at XJET and upgrade right now is around 2 years. As a senior FO at XJT you will have a line with up to 19 days off a month. I even saw a line with 21 days off once but only one of them. This means you can make a lot of money on your days off if you want or be home way more, even with commuting. At PSA you will have 10 days off on reserve and it will be that way for a long long time in DAY! At XJT you will get 11 - 12 days a month off with long call reserve (12 hr call out) a possibility. At PSA if you get assigned airport ready reserve you will be sitting in the crew room for 10 hours. at XJT airport reserve is 5 hours! At XJT you can trade reserve days. And once you become a lineholder all bidding is done online - you can improve your trip yourself without having a scheduler have to approve your trip trades (at PSA you are subject to the whim of the schedulers). Open Time is posted real time at XJT and you can trade stuff immediately!

One more little thing to give you an idea of the huge difference between these two places. At PSA you have no travel benefits while in training (which doesnt matter for you cause you live in DAY), at XJT you can travel home on weekends as a space positive passenger, and you will actually be a must ride (meaning they will bump revenue pax) to get you back to class on the sunday, if the flights are full! This should tell you something about the quality of one vs the other.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, pm me and I will give you my phone number. The quality of the schedules, crew scheduling, contract rules is much much much much better at XJT (i left PSA to come here).

Hmm... Funny how I had travel bennies at PSA by day 5 of training.

Flow up? What's that. I heard something about how some time in the next 3 or 4 years FOs might actually be able to flow up to the left seat. Is that what you mean?

Weasel is right, dont even consider PSA. No matter if you have to commute to EWR or IAH although EWR would probably be easier for you. This is a dead end job. Hell, I'm half tempted to throw my stuff in at XJET just from reading his posts.

The only reason

The only reason there hasn't been a mass exodus at PSA is because it's hard to justify a lateral move to another regional carrier. A little seniority is better than none. That is why I have the highest regards to those that make that decision. (this is a shout out to the funny talking bloke). If a better offer came to this pilot group, I have no doubt what would happen.

Weasil

Is it possible to trade away days and only fly a minimun schedule of 5 or 6 days a month or do you have to fly the number of days your line has.

thank you
