Ok guys, i start training in december and wanted to ask the new cal/xjet pilots their opinion. I live about an hour and 50 minutes south on newark. Obviously i will want ewr as my base. Can i stay at home when on reserve or not? Will i get 2 hour call outs? This will have to do with what airplane i fly as well, meaning getting the 73 will mean shorter reserve than 75/6. What do you guys think?

You can probably pull it off. I am express and I don't remember getting to many "hurry up and get there calls". It is usually next morning or later that day. I am not sure how CAL operates but I have heard there reserve time is better then ours.

Musically sound

Remember the Seinfeld episode where George's Yankees' Boss tells him to find the answer in the song "Downtown". Now think of the song "I can't drive 55" and you'll find your answer.

2 completely diferent airlines. Express Has much better reserve rules than big brother. Of course we don't have a "partnership accord"

chuckle chuckle chuckle

I've gotten the regular 2 hour call out. You better be wearing your uniform and have your bag packed. Oh yeah...and pray for no traffic.

I never got the 2 hour call but it does happen, is it worth it to chance it while on probation? In my opinion, I'd suck it up for a few months until you can get long call (12 hour callout). Then you can stay home and not stress over it.

Edit: I didn't read the initial post that carefully. I'm not familiar with big CAL's rules, I'm only speaking for XJET.
