Last week, ALPA and Mesaba mutually agreed to engage in mediated negotiations. Mediation began on Tuesday, April 18 and continued through Thursday, April 20.

The mediators recommended to the bankruptcy court that the mediation process be continued until May 11, 2006. This was agreed by all parties and the judge, therefore the new decision date is Thursday May 11, 2006....

Enough, I'll light the match. Let us get on with life. Mgmt will always win. Look around. How will all this delaying change the enevitable. XJALPA has already started down the concessions slope. (Continuation from CBA). Just get it over with so that the chest-pounders can sign it and those with b@lls can wipe their a$$ with it.

Nothin like livin 2 weeks at a time.

I think the only question at this point is how big of a bonus Foley and Spanjers get after everyone takes their pay cuts, but if I know them, that has probably already been determined too.

If there is one thing our SLT DOES plan for, it's for greater executive compensation.

This news has been around for a while but here is the offical letter.

Thanks boss!

Dear Colleague:
Throughout the past several months we have done our best to keep you informed in a
timely manner with respect to Mesaba’s restructuring. We have an update today on the
status of our fleet.
Northwest Airlines has informed us of its intent to take back one of Mesaba’s CRJs to use
with its new regional jet subsidiary, Compass Airlines.
Obviously, we are not pleased with this action and are reserving our legal rights to react.
However, Mesaba still has one CRJ and, as you know, we’re bidding for more. This latest
action by Northwest illustrates the indefiniteness of our situation and underscores the
need to take the actions necessary to secure business.
Although I have said this earlier, I feel compelled to say it again considering this latest
news – as difficult as Mesaba’s restructuring is for all individuals involved, the
Company’s survival is at stake. Stability will come only with confirmed services
agreements and those will only come through a cost restructuring. We must get our costs
in line to secure business with Northwest and to compete for new business with
Northwest or anyone else.
Northwest’s decision undoubtedly will lead to speculation: Will Northwest take back the
remaining CRJ? Does this mean Mesaba will or won’t win additional CRJs? Will Mesaba
be able to secure the 49 Saabs? While these questions are important, the answers are
unknown. As we work to gather the answers – hopefully answers that will lead to
securing the Saabs and new growth, I ask you to remain focused on running a safe,
reliable airline. This is of the utmost importance.
If you have additional questions, please let your manager or supervisor know. Thank you
for the work you do every day, in particular during these difficult times.

Can we please have a decision. I can't wait this out much longer. Unemployment doesn't last forever.

The latest weekly officer memo thing mentioned an upcoming reduction notice due to the Avro's leaving Memphis. Do you guys think this will include a furlough notice, or just rearranging?

Oh yeah, good job picking up that Continental flying Mesaba  Since it was one of the three "key objectives" shouldn't they be shutting down the place? When they don't get their 19.4% (another of the key objectives) they won't shut the place down either. It's all BS and even more reason not to give up pay.

Delay as much as possible. It gives us our current and higher pay rates longer=good. This place is a shat hole and from now on always will be. The ONLY way to get on with your life, is to leave. If you don't have the pic the best thing is to take something like net jets. This place is going out of business in a matter of months. The avro people are not being training on the saab because we are giong out of business. Good luck to all and happy hunting.

Sounds as if you have all been fooled by management once again. If we stand strong and hold the line, everything will be fine. Besides downgrades and momentary furloughs, have we taken a paycut or given anything back yet? Stay strong and live your LIFE while this is going down. If you do end up losing your job, will you not still have your life? I just think this is eating many of you up...Worry about only the things you can change.

XJ is not going out of business. The avro guys are not being trained on the saab because they will be flying 70 seaters in 3 months. Just remember this game is Chess not Checkers. ALPA will continue pretending to play the game and we will eventually be taking 8-12% cuts. But always remember: in this day and age, the union will ALWAYS loose against management. ALPA is no longer fighting the battles the way it used to. You pay union dues so Duane can take home his hefty paycheck and you get NO representation in return. ALPA is in need of a MAJOR overhall. Duane and his colleges need to resign and we need to vote in fresh blood.

Seven,
Your right on the major overhaul but where do you start?I'm an old timer and have seen this coming for a long time but to get a fundamental change in the way ALPA does business, talk about an uphill climb.Last yr I listened as DW told a group "If you pattern bargain up you must expect to pattern bargain down."I was shocked and thought if this is the plan we are screwed, and we are.
By the way I believe in a National pay rate and work rules .Preferably a national contract amendable on the same date and no wholly owned subsidiaries. One list is the only way to go.

How you think Duane Woerth has anything to do with this, ya got me. (and while you explain that to me, can you look up the dictionary definition of LOOSE?) You might want to check your syntax.

It all comes down to each and every pilot at the property. IF, and I say IF strongly, there is a TA at some point, each pilot has a vote. And if a simple majority votes against, no TA. I personally don't think this pilot group is willing to give a few percent let alone 8-12%!

NO MATTER what any rep, negotiator, lawyer, or DUANE HIMSELF can change your vote.

So be an adult, and take responsibility for your own life.

they had to wait til the NWA TA was ratified........so they can dangle that carrot in from of us, otherwise why would they keep one CRJ, since its obviously not profitable?????/

I couldn't find it in the dictionary. And can you tell me how to check my syntax because you are obviously much smarter than me.

WRONG! Read Flying the Line. Our managment has. They are constantly changed HARD dates to break down peoples spirits, after they come up with some excuse we can buy as to why. Then people just start thinking "lets get this over with so I can get on with my life" just like the guy here. Then they refrain from downgrading avro people and put out the excuse that it costs too much AND THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE MORE PLANES ARE IN OUR FUTURE! OH BOY lets just sign. THEN it all will all be better. BUT quess what, after they get 51 percent to sign, the new planes will go to Compass, we will furlough more and what Avro CA's don't quite will be Saab CA's and only the saab people who can't find other work or quite will be FO's. IF YOU THINK OTHER WISE YOU ARE JUST KIDDING YOURSELF. It isn't being negative, it is being honest. If you are furloughed from here run, don't walk in the other direction.

WRONG! So let me get this straight: you actually believe Spandex Jingle-pants when he says "we need to secure our fleet of 49 saabs with Northwest?" I thought this whole thing was one big game orchestrated by Doug.

In the end Paycuts will come, then Jets will come. Sad but true.....one big race to the bottom.

^ JERRY: "Seven? Yeah, I guess I could see it. Seven. Seven periods of
school, seven beatings a day. Roughly seven stitches a beating, and eventually seven years to life. Yeah, you're doing that child quite a service." Classic Seinfeld

Seriously though, It's so sad that some people will be willing to give up pay, just for the chance to fly a 705. Maybe I'm being pessimistic though...

Why not take it a step further? Impeach ALPO all together or at least threaten it. If enough regionals rise up and start decertification drives it will make some noise. It doesn't have to be successful but it sends a loud and clear message that your sick and tired of the way things are.

You probably were not here, but back in 97 NWA did it to Express and now they are doing it to Mesaba. WE WILL GO TO 49 SAABS, AND TWO YEARS FROM NOW MAYBE MORE PLANES WILL COME. It has been dull if not sh1ty for the last five years, have fun waiting for four more for your upgrade. Good luck my friend , unjoy the pain.
