Just thought you would like to know...a friend and former XJ Captain is in training for another airline in washington. He has seen both our CRJ and numerous people walking arround with compass manuals. He asked arround but everyone is pretty tight lipped. Not sure what stage of training they are in.

Mesaba is in for a shock in the next year or so when everyone starts hiring again. They are going to find it hard to fill seats for what they are willing to pay.

Spandex is a tool!

Compass is being staffed right now by former indy guys that are on a short term contract. NOt sure on how long, but their contract is to fly that one crj. Once the contract is up and the 70 seaters start coming in, they are done, no preferential hiring into compass

It would seem that a lot of talent is bailing out of XJ...to bad..so sad, as they were once #1 and a great place to work. Good luck to those that remain. Tho not a driver..but a Papa, I wish you all well as did Sonny-boy. Watch your backs and maybe "jinglepants" (dosen't deserve capitalization) will get what the guys at Enron got!!!!!

all this secret compass crap.....oh did anyone hear that our gate agents or some gate agents in DTW had compass badges? thats a good one....just like secret training done somewhere.....in washington....do you think any of those pilots would stay tight lipped about a temporary job......with no flow through....yeah right...word would leak out here....or there or somewhere. yeah sure....

this is all i know, NWa is falling behind the power curve and they do not even realise it......all these airlines are growing, hiring, adding new planes, while NWA is barely able to call back thirty pilots off thier own list. To think..who would staff their airline? who will fill the ranks of the ghost airline compass? whenever someone hires.....somebody knows...and if compass was hiring, NWA pilots have first rights....as per contract......did NWA pilots allow for contract workers to take their flying at compass...maybe they let that slip by....maybe they let NWA fly their 747 asian routes to contract pilots.....i do not think so.

Most of what you just said indicates the actions of a company positioning itself for a merger.

I have been at xj for nine years. My friend that is in training and has since spoken to some of these compass people was at xj for almost eleven years. One of the reasons I hate this web sight, is because it is mostly rumor. What I submitted is fact from a person that I would trust with my life.

What does it mean...you figure it out. I have no idea, nor do I care.

I was arround to watch the effects of our contract in 96/97, I saw what NWA did to express durring our expansion. They beat them down and then gave them a ton of planes. Now it is our turn. Personally, I say take the concessions and the planes and go pound sand.

No matter what happens at xj I am going to do what is best for my family. If I have to bite my lip for a year or so...so be it. Remember it's just a job, not a life.

Captain,

Doing what is easy to avoid doing what is right. That's a great message to send to those kids that your trying to protect. When times are tough kids, do like daddy and just give up. Nice.

All this talk of ghosts, mysteries and secrets...Scooby Doo where are you?
He and the gang will solve this dilema.

Compass is going to require a lot of time and effort the execs won't have for at least another year. It's taken them so much time right now to even get one plane almost running. NWA is making so much money right now, that the compass distraction would actually lose them money. They are making over $100 million a month + the shell game and the airplane leasing scam.

This site needs to have an IQ test included with the enrollment. Obviously, the small minded people, with out responsabilities, have had a hard time figureing out what I wrote.

Goose I have bills to pay and children who need clothes, food and a home. I have had interviews and turned them down because they were loosers... like you. I refuse to turn my families life upside down and move to the other side of the country just to avoid a crap company. It is apparent that you haven't been arround long enough to realize that sometimes you have to bite the bullet for a while until you can get a better deal. I will gladdly quit today. You come pay my bills. That is called being a stand up man and doing what it takes to get it done. Which you won't understand.

Don't misunderstand me. I have no intention to vote yes to any concessions and I'm not affraid of furlough. But, I am not going to just quit for the sake of principle like some moron, (a.k.a. TinGoose).

If you want to insult me and make comments about my family, you email me your home address and I'll come see you in person. We can have a little chat.

I would have sent you a private message but I want everyone to see how much of little punk you are.

XJ handling in DTW is being replaced by 9E. Doubtful this will improve things...but that is what is happening.

Wow! Step away from the computer and head to the fridge like XJgb said. The enemy is over in Eagan, not on here.

Yep, a little humility and a cooler head would do wonders.

Capt, I re-read your post a few times, and I still don't quite understand where you draw the line with management - I think I read you right that you are going to take any guff, but you would rather not quit to prove a point?

I'm not trying to make a point. This is a job and that's it. I will work here until I get a better one somewhere else. God knows I am trying. If the place folds, fine by me. I go get another job in the mean time outside of flying. If they offer concessions I say and vote NO. No frickin way! If that isn't clear enough then Bite Me. I feel as most do at XJ. Let it burn. I am not going to quit without another job lined up. I need a pay check to take care of my family. However, I am not going to let Spandex and the rest bend me over. If that happens I will have to quit because I won't be able to afford to work there anymore.

If the rest of you don't find making comments about somebody elses family inappropriate then I guess I am alone.

I have taken my share of crap but at least I take care of what matters.

Thanks Capt for the clarification. I think we are all on the same page, and appreciate your staunch support against this absolutely corrupt management.

The confusion I think started in one of your earlier posts, and is highlighted by this sentence... "Personally, I say take the concessions and the planes and go pound sand."
Now, when I read that, I knew what you meant, but I think others may have interpreted that as "I'll take the concessions and the planes (and go out to work for a living with whatever they provide).

Peace out - I think we are all on the same page.

I don't think that any move by the Mesaba pilots will change the NWA plans for Compass. I think that Mesaba pilots paying Compass any attention is a waste of time. Be happy guys, let our union do thier best. When a TA is reached, read it well and vote. Until there is liq., a TA, or an imposed contract(followed by a whole string of action that will ultimately end in ch7) drink heavily like the rest of us. Take the anger out on NWA, there are the puppet master here, and ALWAYS will be. Peace.

It's all about time lines. Pilots look forward about 3 to 4 months, while managments look out 3 to 4 years. Bottom line is you have to do what is right. There is no carrot or hammer, they are both illusions propagated to sway the pilots. Compass' future was decided years ago, long before this was ever publically debated. So the truth is that there isn't any real decision to be made at all. It's just a matter of how much you are willing to move under an illusionary promise/threat from your management. The common demoninator for this is fortitude, not self-preservation. You may not be willing to accept it, but XJ's future has already been decided. Concessions or not.

And yes, I've been drinking.
