Well then, don't put my schedule up on the anti-pilot website.

Widebody reserve, 20-25 days off a month.
Nice hotels.
IRO's for those long duty days.
Choice of first class meals.
Long layovers in Europe, the Pacific, South America,.....
All of this for $120k.........

Many of us won't make it there, but congrats brotha you made it.

I didn't throw this out to brag, there are others that have it even better. I just wanted to put some optimism in to a rather pessimistic thread.

I understand that some just can not get to a major for reasons beyond their control. But their are also many who chose to stay where they're comfortable because they aren't willing to make a short term sacrifice for the long term rewards.

There were many stops along my career where I could have chosen the short term benefits over the long term and in retrospect it cost some of my contemporaries seniority or advancement to better jobs.

If we keep our eye on the prize and throw off the things that weigh us down we will succeed. Its timeless wisdom.

The eminem effect doesn't count. You can't submit with a straight face that a widebody reserve schedule is closer to the median 121 pilot compensation than new-hire regional FO reserve. This is part of the problem. People naturally point at the top end of the scale as if that was a reasonable expectation of compesantion for the MEDIAN, which in this industry is way closer to the bottom number than the top.........

With the tens of thousands of pilots the majors employ, are you saying that there are more regoinal 121 Fo's than that?

Reserve widebody FO is by no means what the average 121 pilot works, but beyond the bottom 10% of the list or so its a choice that is available to any pilot at a legacy carrier.

Certainly the pay and QOL at some/many "regional" carriers sucks but to paint it as the majority I think is a bit of a stretch.
