For a look at what's going on:

http://www.deltadocket.com/

Petitions have already been filed to reject leases on the 30 FRJs which were assigned to Delta by Independence. Also included are leases on MD-11s which are subleased and 737-200s which are parked in Arizona.

Can you provide a link to it so we don't have to sift through the entire website?

Don't know how accurate this is, but the following is from another website. He says he has access to the entire document. This certainly would pare DL down quite a bit on the domestic front. Large numbers of 757s and MD88s would be subject to cuts.

From the filings, it appears DL is looking for the "flexibility" to shudder the following leased aircraft as needed to reduce the fleet:

ATR-72's were not transfered to Skywest - (4 are owned/8 leased - Filing looks to eliminate turboprops and spares **specifically stated**)
737-200's and 300's under lease (up to 55 - my hunch is this type will go away)
328Jets (30 - gone)
MD-11 (3)
757's (Up to 44)
CRJ-100's (Up to 40)
MD-88's (Up to 57)
767-300 (up to 24)
767-300ER (9)

The followign are not part of the filing:

Leased CRJ-200's and 700's belonging to Comair
737-800's and 777-200's

not arguing that the list of aircraft you provided is correct, but I don' t think that means they want to get rid of all of them. Based on memory, the list seems to be a list of just about every aircraft Delta leases vs owns. And I have no doubt the first step in trying to lower lease payments would be to threaton to terminate the lease.

oh and by the way, if you are referencing another website, then provide the link or the address. Otherwise, it means nothing.

so now your big source is some unknown person on another forum?? Look, that poster may be correct. Happens sometimes. But I would not put much stock in an unknown source on an internet forum.

Plus if you follow that thread down, the same poster is asked to provide proof and then even he just references the filings to get rid of the MD-11s, parked 732s and the 328s.

It's not a big source, it's a poster. He says you need access to a Business Journal, but then references the DL link from the website as a peripheral source. He clearly points out that this is not definitive, so I doubt there is any alterior motive. Like you said, it would make sense to list all the a/c that they plan to try and renegotiate leases. The only problem with that theory is the leasors are in a much stronger position to send the a/c elsewhere than they were when UAL and US Airways renegotiated their leases. It will be tough for DL to get much benefit from renegotiation. DL and NWA must both get costs under control quickly or they will be unable to attract the type of exit financing needed to have a viable future.

Actually Mesa is now responsible for the Do-Jet leases. That was part of the deal when they signed on to fly Delta Connection for them.
