Lowecur, it isn't how many gates DAL gives JetBlue but how many JFK will give SWA.
That's OUTRAGIOUS!!!!

SWA will find all the gates they need over on the Cargo side.

:pimp:

Looks like the City of Dallas will offer new airlines a way into DAL under the cap of 20 gates. Existing airlines will be asked to give up gates voluntarily, but if that doesn't work....the City can then take them back. What isn't explained is how many gates SWA will get, and just how many gates another LCC will be granted. I'm sure SWA doesn't want Jetblue in there with anymore than 2 or 3 gates.

OK...lets take a deep breath. right now SWA operates at DAL with 14 gates. Out of those 14 gates they launch 117 flights per day. Before 9/11, SWA operated around 145 flights per day using those same 14 gates.

SWA has stated many times that if the Wright ( Wrong) Amendment went away, the DAL operation would resemble the HOU operation ( 135 flights per day).

Under this deal, SWA will use 2 additional gates....to keep the current number of gates even with the Wright (Wrong) Amendment gone....isn't going to generate quite the drama that some would like to see.

Maybe I'm missing something. Where does it say in this new wording that SWA will use 16 of the 20 gates? If indeed the compromise is the ability to bring in new carriers to DAL, somebody has to forfit gates. Is it WN, CAL or AMR? Or maybe it's just a smokescreen and things will just remain status quo.

Lowcur, Dallas and Ft worth want all new carriers to use DFW, now how many gates will Jet Blue get?

Wouldn't it be faster for SWA to just brake the law and then get the law repealed through the judiciary? It just seems faster for this to be settled in the courts than in the senate. Sometimes it's faster to prove that a law is unconstitutional than it is to repeal it though the legislative branch. Just a thought.

Dallas and Ft Worth wanted you [SWA] to use DFW also, didn't seem to matter. JetBlue wasn't around as a certificated carrier to sign the DFW bond agreement just like SWA, so I guess they have an arguement. Give JetBlue the old Legend terminal with 6 gates.

This political fight stinks and has resulted from ONE airline's antics. Let's all go to DFW and duke it out.

I'm with you, give Jet Blue the 6 Legend gates and give us 6 at JFK.

Well, maybe you can make a deal. Fair warning, you can fly anywhere from this airport! So can every other operator, hope that's OK. If you choose to go there, they won't be escorting all other airlines off the field...Don't let that bother you later.
