an MDA pilot told me that to go to CHQ they were offered jobs.

1. 2 week indoc.
2. 2 sim sessions, 3rd sim checkride
3. $15,000 two year training contract. No pro-rated schedule.
4. Give up recall to AWA/USAirways
5. 30 days no medical insurance
6. Capt $50 range, F/O $21-$23 range

$5000 for each sim session????

The CEO pleaded to the MDA group to help proving runs and to expedite the certificate process.
He said something else about experience in the plane to help keep insurance costs down.

He said there was not much interest. Wonder why.

Ahhh the brotherhood of aviators. Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to see a bunch of guys who have had the crap beat out of them lying on the ground while another pilot group continues to kick them in the head.

Bedford is obviously a religious man -- yeah a real man of god.
  • $5000/ simulator session??
  • Resign your seniority??
  • Work for poverty wages??
  • No health-insurance for a MONTH?? (these guys aren't kids right out of "the academy" -- they have families and children)
Disgusting. You guys should be ashamed of your boss. He's officially graduated from the Orenstein Lorenzo School of Management.

This is a bunch of bs. They will fall under the current J4J agreement.

Absolute bull.

When I was hired the training contract had an experience clause (ie waived for those over a certain TT etc.) Don't know if this is still true or not.

CHQ has never required anyone to resign their recall rights. Approx. 1/3rd of my new-hire class was furloughed mainliners as a result.

Can't comment on the number of sim rides, as the company has not shared anything about this potential transition. 30-day wait for insurance bennies was standard for new-hires, I'd fully agree some sort of concession should be made here. (Maybe by Airways since they're the ones dumping these guys on the streets?)

Are you joking about the pay-scales? As crummy as they are here, our Captain rates are either the same or within a buck of MDA/MAA's (Better and worse depending on the year). Under our J4J protocol, captains come in as first-year guys, and FOs come in at the top of the payscale. As much as our FO scale has been maligned (and rightly so) it's a whopping 3 dollar an hour cut, for senior FOs. But wait, a lineholder's guarantee just went up 3 hours a month! And the per-diem increased, too. Oh, the agony!

What's really funny about the experience in the plane comment is that CHQ ALREADY OPERATES 23 E-170s. We've been flying them about 6 months less than MDA/MAA. Somehow I think we can find a guy or two that might be competent to fly a proving run. Admittedly absorbing 28 more aircraft into the fleet will go better with already trained crews. Thus, the J4J protocol.

As always, it's more fun to bash here with half-assed facts and assumptions. BTW, did I mention ALPA's humble request for integration with our lowly group of Teamsters? All they demanded was DOH (that's orignal mainline DOH, not MDA) on our entire list, PLUS super-seniority within the Republic certificate for ALL MDA pilots (including those CEL guys from the wholly-owneds who were never mainline pilots in the first place). Yeah, we're a real bunch of bastards for not immediately agreeing to that generous offer.

Are you serious??? That must be something to be proud of.......Your(CHQ) rates were deemed as a "great improvement" in your contract and the MDA rates were forced upon a bankrupt carrier.... Amazing. I feel for the MDA guys

To All MidAtlantic Pilots:

As we move forward with the sale of our EMB 170 aircraft to Republic Airways, we will begin transitioning pilots to Republic Airways shortly. An initial pilot training class is being planned July 18, 2005 and will be offered in seniority order to all MidAtlantic pilots per Letter of Agreement # 91. The first class will be comprised of 10 Captains and 10 First Officers. This first group will complete approximately two weeks of indoctrination training followed by either two or three simulator sessions. Once training is complete, you will participate in proving run flights with the FAA in advance of Republic Airways completing their FAA certification. After this phase, most will have the opportunity to qualify for a Check Airman position.

Further information concerning Republic Airways is attached as well as placed on the ALPA website and theHub. We will begin calling pilots July 5, 2005 and will be closing the first class by July 8, 2005. Captains accepting employment at Republic Airways will receive Captain's pay in accordance with their MidAtlantic longevity. First Officer's pay will be at Republic Airway's First Officer top-of-scale pay.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your exemplary service to US Airways and to MidAtlantic Airways in particular. Your "can do" attitude was an integral part of the successful start up of a new division with a new aircraft type. We know your job has not been an easy one and we appreciate all your efforts in making MidAtlantic a successful division for our Company.

In the coming days, more information should become available concerning the transition to Republic Airways. As soon as we know more, we will share that information with you.

Stay tuned and thanks again for your continued efforts.

Sincerely,

LyleHogg

Senior Director-Flight Operations
